The adjacent pairs of plates comprise one, and optionally two flanges, extending axially in the flow passage at the fluid inlet, thus narrowing an inlet space between the plates at the fluid inlet. The ridges improve fluid flow to the fluid outlet of the flow passage, by at least a downstream working distance, compared to a pair of adjacent plates that do not have the ridges.
