Abstract
Se describen sistemas y métodos para perforar un pozo secundario a partir de un pozo primario en el cual ya se instaló una sarta de producción. La sarta de producción se corta por debajo de una ubicación de punto de partida deseado para el pozo secundario y la parte superior de la sarta de producción se retira del pozo primario, exponiendo de este modo un extremo de la sarta de producción restante. Un dispositivo de orientación lateral (LOD, por sus siglas en inglés) se monta sobre el extremo expuesto de la sarta de producción. El LOD incluye un soporte que se coloca en el extremo expuesto, el/los mecanismos de anclaje para asegurar el LOD a la/s estructura/s tubular/es adyacente/s, y los sello/s para acoplar herméticamente las estructuras tubulares adyacentes. El LOD puede incluir una superficie contorneada para orientar una herramienta, tal como una cuña de desviación, que se puede utilizar para perforar un pozo. De manera alternativa, se puede acoplar una sarta de trabajo con el LOD para realizar operaciones de bombeo en el pozo debajo del LOD.
