Las soluciones amortiguadoras para desparafinado contienen un solvente orgánico soluble en agua que tiene un punto de ebullición de al menos 80ºC. Las soluciones amortiguadoras para desparafinado descritas en la presente se pueden usar rápidamente y eficazmente para eliminar la parafina de inclusión de secciones de tejido montadas en portaobjetos en una solución amortiguadora acuosa a temperatura elevada sin temor de redeposición de parafina en el portaobjetos. Adicionalmente las soluciones amortiguadoras para desparafinado descritas en la presente se pueden usar para realizar el desparafinado e HIER en un único paso, que puede recudir sustancialmente el tiempo de protocolo y disminuir el riesgo de pérdida o daño de la muestra.
