Abstract
Un procedimiento continuo para producir combustible biodiesel con una conversión mayor al 99,90% en peso de los triglicéridos en biodiesel en la etapa de transesterificación, que comprende: a) proveer una fuente de triglicéridos con una concentración de triglicéridos superior al 99,0 % en peso; b) someter los triglicéridos a una reacción de transesterificación con metanol, etanol, o sus mezclas, en una relación molar de triglicéridos : alcohol de 1 : 3 - 3,5, en presencia de 0,7 a 1,0 % en peso de hidróxido de sodio o de potasio como catalizador, bajo condiciones de cavitación ultrasónica en un reactor de cavitación ultrasónica con 2 a 8 celdas en serie de cavitación, a una temperatura comprendida entre 45 y 60sC, a una presión comprendida entre 1,5 y 2 MPa (15 - 20 atm) y durante un período de tiempo comprendido entre 15 y 30 segundos; c) recuperar el producto de la etapa (b) y someterlo a una operación de agitación mecánica, a una temperatura comprendida entre 45 y 60sC, durante un tiempo máximo de 10 minutos hasta la finalización completa de la reacción de transesterificación, obteniéndose una conversión mayor al 99,90% en peso de los triglicéridos en biodiesel; d) decantar y/o centrifugar el producto resultante de la etapa (c) para eliminar la glicerina; e) purificar el biodiesel obtenido de la etapa (d) mediante resinas de intercambio; y f) eliminar por destilación el metanol y el agua del producto proveniente de la etapa (e) y recuperar el combustible biodiesel así obtenido.
