Abstract

La presente provee recubrimientos opticamente selectivos para tejidos vegetales, tales como productos agrícolas. Los recubrimientos están disenados para transmitir un espectro de luz deseado, mientras que evitan que intensidades de radiacion nociva en dados rangos de longitudes de onda danen los tejidos vegetales. Por ejemplo, un recubrimiento puede ser hecho a medida para actuar corno un filtro de paso bajo permitiendo preferencialmente que longitudes de onda más cortas penetren el recubrimiento; como un filtro de paso alto dejando pasar preferencialmente longitudes de onda mayores; o como un filtro de paso de banda, dejando pasar preferencialmente luz visible a los tejidos vegetales mientras que se minimiza la penetracion de luz ultravioleta e infrarroja. Una realizacion de ejemplo comprende preparar un recubrimiento opticamente selectivo determinando un espectro de transmision para el recubrimiento, luego calculando las propiedades de película (tales como espesor, tamano de partícula, y/o índice de refraccion, por ejemplo) de uno o más materiales para obtener el espectro de transmision deseado para la película a ser aplicada a la superficie a ser protegida.
