Abstract

Los polímeros funcionalizados se mezclan con los pesticidas para formar complejos semi-estables que tienen propiedades beneficiosas para el campo: lavado reducido en el suelo, una retencion mejorada sobre hojas (resistencia a la lluvia), descarga selectiva en raíces y un envasado y aplicacion convenientes. Los pesticidas con los que se pueden formar complejos incluyen a los herbicidas, insecticidas (incluso los compuestos para controlar artropodos que no son insectos y nemátodos), bactericidas, rodenticidas y funguicidas. Los polímeros con los que se pueden formar complejos incluyen a los derivados de carbohidratos, amidas, iminas, alcanos, vinilos, estirenos y glicoles. Los polímeros pueden estar funcionalizados con grupos químicos que exhiben interacciones ionicas (aminas y carboxilos), hidrofobicas, formacion de complejos (por ejemplo, quelantes de metal) e interacciones de enlace de ligando. Los diversos polímeros funcionalizados pueden ser mixtos, injertados o fusionados para obtener propiedades optimas. Las formulaciones de polímero/pesticida se pueden aplicar como gránulos, suspensiones o soluciones en pulverizadores, como espumas o como recubrimientos para semillas y fertilizantes. Las formulaciones se pueden aplicar al follaje, al suelo, al agua para irrigacion, materiales para construccion (plásticos, madera), materiales para siembra, granos y construcciones edilicias.
