Abstract

Se provee un aparato reductor de la presión, y un método para operar un conjunto reductor de la presión. El aparato puede ser operado de manera de reducir la presión y el caudal de flujo del petróleo que está siendo descargado de la cabecera de un pozo hacia un equipo de procesamiento situado corriente abajo. El dispositivo tiene un canal central de flujo configurado para recibir un flujo de petróleo y reducir la presión del petróleo. El aparato tiene componentes interiores hechos de un material cerámico que resisten la erosión y desgaste causados por la arena y otros residuos presentes en el petróleo. En una forma de realización de la invención, hay un manguito exterior cerámico dispuesto en el canal central de flujo que coopera con un manguito interior cerámico que tiene un orificio. El manguito interior cerámico es intercambiable con otros manguitos cerámicos que tienen diferentes orificios a efectos de modificar las características de presión y flujo del petróleo a medida que el mismo es descargado hacia el equipamiento de procesamiento situado corriente abajo.
