Abstract

Un sistema y método que hace el seguimiento, recopila y guarda informacion sobre navegaciones del usuario de television por satélite, sin que el usuario llegue a advertir que está teniendo lugar manipulacion alguna de datos. El presente invento permite que quienes hacen publicidad de productos o servicios en canales de television por satélite, para recibir informacion recopilada sobre navegaciones del espectador de television, tal como la hora del día, la cantidad de tiempo que el usuario pasa mirando un aviso publicitario, o "escena", en particular, y la ubicacion del espectador. El presente invento, adaptable para una red (10) tradicional de comunicaciones por satélite, consta de una serie de instrucciones legibles por la computadora que están guardadas en el IRD (35) del usuario del satélite, las que se puede descargar para tomar en cuenta el seguimiento de las navegaciones. La identidad de la escena que se está mirando, la hora del día de esa observacion en particular y el lapso que se emplea observando la escena se registran en forma cronologica, guardan en forma temporaria en una RAM y su contenido se traspasa a memoria no volátil en intervalos preestablecidos. Periodicamente, a la informacion cronologica sobre navegaciones se puede transmitir a un emplazamiento remoto (55), donde se la puede procesar y transformar en registros estadísticos para que le brinden al proveedor valiosa informacion sobre comercializacion.
