Abstract

A method for preparing polymeric, porous, three-dimensional, biodegradable and biocompatible supports intended for tissue engineering, comprising the steps of: (i) dissolving a polymer in an organic solvent to prepare a polymer solution; (ii) mixing an effervescent salt with the resulting polymer solution to obtain a mixed gel composed of the polymer, the salt and the organic solvent; and (iv) make the salt between effervescence in the resulting mixed gel composed of the polymer and the salt to obtain a polymeric support. The porosity and the interconnections between the pores that the support presents allow housing cell cultures isolated from the tissues to be cultured. The method of this invention offers several advantages: (i) it allows to easily give the desired shape to the cell culture matrix with the gel and (ii) control the size of the pore and the porosity of the three-dimensional porous polymeric support by controlling the amount and size of the effervescent signals and the concentration of the acidic aqueous solutions through which the effervescence and leaching of the salts is induced .
