Abstract

This is achieved by means of signal processing (16) in the signal input paths in front of the demodulator (11), said means (16), which include at least one improved digital automatic gain control unit (161), which integrates signal samples that enter at a constant and common power level, and that includes a subsequent quantifier unit (162), which transforms the integrated signal samples to samples that use a reduced amount of bits. Transmission bandwidth in the receiving unit is reduced and the desalting processing in the demodulator is less complex.
