Abstract

The present invention relates to useful materials and methods for the control of pests and, especially, of plant pests. More specifically, the present invention presents new polynucleotide sequences optimized for expression in plants encoding pesticidal toxins. The depolinucleotide sequences of the present invention have certain modifications, compared to wild-type sequences, which make them especially suitable for optimized expression for plant expression. By using the polynucleotide sequences described herein, it is possible to achieve plant transformation, by means of techniques known to those skilled in the art, to confer such resistance to pests. The polynucleotide sequences of the present invention can also be truncated to produce truncated toxins and to produce hybrid or chimeric (fusion) genes and proteins. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention features polynucleotide sequences optimized for expression in plants encoding a total length toxin of approximately 130 kDa, which may be referred to as 80JJ1 / 130 type protein. In another preferred embodiment, the present invention features polynucleotide sequences optimized for expression in plants encoding protein toxins wings that can be termed type 43F toxins.
