Abstract

Un método y un aparato para localizar una unidad movil remota. Un primer receptor asociado con un transceptor movil detecta senales transmitidasen emisiones desde transmisores fijos, por ejemplo, senales de FM. Una parte de audio demodulada delas senales FM recibidas, conjuntamente con unarepresentacion codificada del canal de la senal de FM transmitida, son transmitidos a un segundo receptor en una localizacion conocida. El segundoreceptor se sintoniza con un canal indicado porlos datos del canal. Un correlacionador desplaza en el tiempo la porcion de audio recibida de lasenal de FM, hasta que se logra una correlacion con la senal recibida en el segundo receptor. Este proceso puede repetirse para variassenales FMtransmitidas. Las diferencias de tiempo entre las senales recibidas en el primer y segundo receptor, conjuntamente con la localizacion conocida de lostransmisores FM, se utilizan para determinar la localizacion de la unidad movil.
