Abstract

En un roceso y aparato para determinar parámetros de calificación de una res, se rastrea el contorno de una imagen de la res y se identifican puntosde referencia que representan rasgos anatómicos de la res. Luego se identifican segundos puntos dereferencia situados en posiciones predeterminadas conrepecto a los primeros puntos de referencia. La imagen de la res se divide en una pluralidad de secciones, determinándose los límites de cada sección enfunción de la posición de los primeros yse gundos puntos de referencia, y se determina el área de cada sección. Se determina una ecuación predictiva delparámetro de calificación en la cual el parámetro de calificación está incluido como variable dependiente, y por lo menos unárea de sección de laimagen de la res se incluye como variable independiente. Solucionando la ecuación predictiva se obtiene un valor para el parámetro de calificaciónde la res. Otras mediciones que se pueden obtener de la imagen de la res yusar como variables independientes en las ecuaciones preditivas incluyen lasdistancias entre las regiones dorsal y ventral del contorno de la imagen de la res y una línea media de la res, los anchos de la res, las medicionesangulares entrepuntos de referencia, y las mediciones de curvatura del contorno de la imagen de la res. Las técnicas de rastreo del ojo de costillamejoradas permiten la medición precisa de los parámetros del ojo de costilla. Los parámetros del ojo decostilla m edidos pueden utilizarse para determinarun grado de calidad de la res o como variables independientes en la ecuación predictiva de calificación, solor o conjuntamente con las medicionestomadas de la imagen de la res.
