Abstract

Se revela un proceso que conduce a una substancial mejora en la eficiencia del blanqueo de materiales lignocelulósicos y similares con peróxido dehidrógeno. Esto se ha obtenido reduciendo la proporción y extensión de la descomposición no productiva del peróxido. Se muestra aquí que una substancialparte de la descomposición del peróxido, que se produce a raiz de la exposición al equipo de proceso, es disminuida substancialmente usando unametalurgia apropiada. Se describe un recipiente de blanqueo que tiene por lo menos una superficie en contacto, es decir, una superficie de contacto, con lapulpa procesada. El recipiente, o al menos la superficie de contacto es construido de zirconio, niobio, hafnio, tantalio o aleaciones de los mismos. Unproceso de blanqueo que usa tal recipiente elimina la necesidad de silicato y otros agentes secuestrantes en la solución de blanqueo.
