Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend the recording and reproducing time by providing one recording and reproducing disk with two recording and reproducing heads and by continuously operating one head after the completion of the recording and reproduction of the other. CONSTITUTION:Disk 1 is provided with the 1st and 2nd two spiral tracks; the 1st track is recorded and reproduced by head 2, and the 2nd track by head 3. Pickup arms 4 and 5 fitted with heads 2 and 3 are provided with switches 8 and 9 which detect movement end positions, and arm shifter 10 is rotated via a driving means with their detection signals, so that while one arm is elevated, the other arm is lowered. Thus, one disk 1 provides long-time recording and reproduction and the recording and reproduction has not any break due to a change-over.
