Description

TITLE OF THE INVENTION: SEED WOMB
The present disclosure is based on the Indian Patent Applications bearing number 201841023526 dated June 25, 2018, 201843030596 dated August 15, 2018, and 201843035566 dated September 21, 2018. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present disclosure generally relates to an ultra-portable, biodegradable seed womb. Particularly, the present disclosure is related to a seed womb that may either contain single container or two containers, such as, an inner and out container. More particularly, the present disclosure is related to a seed womb that contains an additional outer container that holds water. It also encloses cords for water transport and tripod holder for holding cuttings of stems, roots etc. when deemed necessary.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Global warming is currently at the century peak with high temperature rise, draught, expanding desserts, scanty rains, drying up of lakes, ponds, rivers and underground water levels. Various species of insects, birds, animals are now either extinct or endangered. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are at alarming high rates causing threat to life on earth. Diseases such as asthma, cancer, heart attacks, birth defects and various other diseases have become epidemic. Farmers are severely affected by drought as it is more difficult to grow crops with low soil moisture and no water availability and reduction in soil nutrient levels.
We have already reached a point where reversal seems impossible. Action needs to be taken immediately. To reverse global warming, millions and millions of trees needs to be grown immediately. Reforestation of the planet is the solution for global warming and to reverse the course of climate change. Forests are an important part of the global carbon cycle because trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. By removing this greenhouse gas from the air, forests function as terrestrial carbon sinks by storing large amounts of carbon. At any time, forests account for as much as double the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. Therefore, an increase in the overall forest cover around the world would tend to mitigate global warming. Trees also bring rain, conserve water and protect and rejuvenate water bodies. Flowers, grass, vegetables, fruits, herbs, shrubs, creepers, big shady trees, medicinal plants provide food and shelter to millions of insects birds and animals along with innumerable benefits to human beings. Common reforestation techniques include both natural and artificial methods: Natural regeneration methods include root suckering, stump sprouting or natural seeding. Artificial regeneration methods include aerial and ground seeding, machine planting and hand planting.
Generally, seed balls and saplings are used in artificial regeneration method of reforestation. There are so many drawbacks in using saplings. Saplings cannot be carried in large numbers because they are bulky and heavier. Sapling cannot be transported and planted in remote in accessible areas such as mountain peaks, and deep troughs etc. Saplings must be grown in a nursery for 6 to 12 months. Saplings need digging pits which is not possible always and everywhere. Hence, it is time consuming and costly and tedious. The planting of sapling is costly because of the sapling cost, transportation cost and digging cost. Saplings are available only of few varieties, hence, that cannot replicate the diverse nature of forests.
The alternate for saplings is seed balls. They can be easily carried to any place. But, seed balls also have certain drawbacks. Since they completely enclose the seeds inside, seeds are not aerated and hence they die. Hence, the shelf-life of the seed balls is very less. Seed balls should disintegrate, allowing the seeds to make contact with surrounding soil. If not, the seedlings can’t break free from the seed ball and will die. If seed balls are over-compressed they cannot breakdown hence, the seeds will die. On throwing or on heavy rain fall or vigorous watering, the seed balls break and seed gets separated from seed ball making it ineffective. In seed ball, the seeds were placed inside of the seed ball. Many seeds require sunlight to germinate and if they are placed on the inside of the seed ball, they will not grow.
There is, therefore, a need in the art for a seed womb which is economical, ultra- portable, easily transportable, and in which seeds remain alive because of aeration and sunlight. Seed wombs can be stored for a long time, has shelf life of more than a year. They can be spread anytime of the year. Seeds remain in top portion which increase the germination rate of seeds. On rainfall or watering, seed womb supply the nutrients required and also aid in germination of seeds and help easy spread of roots because of loose surrounding soil and bio-compost. These seed wombs do not break on throwing even from high distance and on heavy rainfall or watering. These seed wombs collects water from rain and holds it for some days, and prevents the seeds or seedlings from drying by supplying the water to the seed or seeding.

An ultra-portable biodegradable seed womb (100) comprising a flat bottom is disclosed. In an embodiment, as illustrated in Figure 1, said seed womb (100) comprises a first unit (200), and a second unit (300).
The first unit (200) comprises a first container (101) that is made of biodegradable material and spherical in shape. Said first container comprises a first part that comprises a plurality of small openings (102) in its top portion and a second part that comprises a closed flat bottom. The first part of the first container disintegrates on wetting.
The first container (101) from the top comprises plurality of micro pores (103) for air and sunlight penetration to keep the seeds alive and healthy, and also to provide oxygen for developing seedling roots later. The micro pores (103) increase the shelf life of the seeds and help in robust growth of the seedlings. The second unit (300) comprises a second container (104) that is made of biodegradable material with animal and pests repellants added to it. The second container has plurality of micro pores (103) on its surface. The second container (104) has flat mesh both in top and bottom. The bottom which contacts the flat bottom of the first unit is covered with the first mesh (1051) that comprises plurality of holes and a first coco peat/starch paper/biodegradable polymer/biodegradable materials (1061) with a first specific thickness is placed inside in the bottom of the second container before filling the second container with sufficient quantity of mixture of loose bio- compost, micronutrients, coco peat etc. with or without soil (107). One or more seeds (108) are placed inside the nutrient rich bio-compost (107). Seeds (108) which are fresh, treated graded with high germination rate are used. A first space (109) ranging from lmm to 20cm, varying for different types of seeds from the top of the mixture of bio-compost, micronutrients, coco peat etc. (107) is left before placing a second coco peat/starch paper/biodegradable polymer/biodegradable material (1062) with a second specific thickness in the top of the container.
