Description

Telecommunication system.
This invention is related to a unique telecommunication system and device for use in said system, especially a wireless telecommunication system, such as a television, mobile (cellular) telephone or radio system, comprising the use of a television set, a mobile (cellular) telephone set and especially a radio set, preferably a small or very small telecommunication set, particularly a radio set, especially a small or very small radio set which can be used for distributing infoimation, music, entertainment, education and commercial or non-commercial advertisements, and which by the influence of its characteristics, other than the telecommunication messages submitted thereby, for the hum-in perception, especially vision, can lead the thought or conscious or unconscious attention of humans in a desired direction. The telecommunication set can optionally include an interactive function whereby e.g. a market research could be performed. The interaction function could technically be operated through e.g. an IR gate, Blue Tooth technique etc.
Throughout the world and especially within the US there are numerous of various television and radio broadcasting companies, channels and stations. Today the π-arketing of new or other certain products is often aided by the use of television or radio broadcasting. The wide spread, frequent use and small size of today's radio sets have made the various radio stations, if not the most, very important contributors to various advertisements and also specific and general information.
In order to get a stronger impact of a specific telecommunication, e.g. of radio station (and hence primary or secondary of e.g. a mission, or an event, or a happening, or a phenomenon, or a production, or a product, or a presentation, or an advertisement), which e.g. broadcasts a specific advertisement about a specific product sold, commercialised or manufactured by a specific company or business, the telecommunication receiver device itself including loudspeakers or connecting parts, e.g. radio set, should give a visual perception, e.g. by having a specific appearance, that in one way or other is connected to one or several of its messages of broadcasting e.g. have the appearance of, or the transmitting, or mediating a specific company's logo-type, business characteristics, slogan, melody and or signature, by the shape of the receiver device itself, by a display means connected thereto, e.g. a liquid crystal display, a light, IR, laser or other projecting means, audio means, etc.
This invention according to a preferred embodiment comprises a small or very small radio set, and the use thereof for transmitting information, e. g. advertisements, related to the impressions the device may give on a user or observer in the various ways mentioned herein. Each specific appearance e.g. shape of a receiving device may be arranged or tuned for receiving signals from only one specific and defined source or field of business or companies, from only one type of happenings or field of interests, only from one type of phenomena, only receiving one radio frequency or a restricted number of radio frequencies connected to a specific radio station or a specific group of radio stations or radio channels cooperating in broadcasting the signals, for which the receiver is intended to act as a receiver. The receiver may also be arranged for automatically scanning and being locked to a particular frequency selected by one or more particular broadcasting station or stations or channel or channels. Information or messages received in this way through the telecommunication device suitably at least partially, e.g. as regards advertisements, are related to the specific appearance of or impression submitted by the device onto the user or observer thereof, such as by the radio set having a specific appearance, e.g. typically the logo type of that radio station, or appearance according to primary or secondary commercial or other interests, or appearance of missions, or events, or happenings, or phenomena, or productions, or products, or presentations, and thus the appearance of the, e.g. radio set, being partly or totally related to its broadcasting content The radio set is intended to be openly used, e.g. with the radio set/logo type being connected to the collar of a shirt or jacket, connected to die outer ear etc. The signal, e.g. sound, is intended to be transferred to ear mussels or headsets, or to loudspeakers, direct or via cables or via the air using other technique e.g. blue tooth.
Thus this invention according to a preferred embodiment thereof comprises a telecommunication set, especially a unique, small or very small telecommunication set, especially a radio set, which has an appearance or other characteristics, such as comprising a shape, a trade mark, the name of a person, a product, a producer, a slogan, a melody, a signature, etc., which can lead the thoughts of a person perceiving, e.g. seeing, or using the set, to specific products, services, events, phenomena, missions, presentations, advertisements, etc., especially other than the trade mark, name or similar identification of the maker of the telecommunication, especially radio set.
A telecommunication set, especially a radio set according to this invention may preferbly be pre-tuned to receiving messages from one type of business wise, one type of field of interest wise or one type of phenomena wise broadcasting stations, e.g. radio stations, television stations, and/or telephone stations, such as cellular telephone stations on one or more wave-lengths or channels.
Thus, a telecommunication receiving device, e.g. a radio set according to the invention may be pre- tuned to receiving messages from one or more stations, e.g. radio stations sending ---formation having a link to, especially advertisements, having a link to and coupling for the specific product etc. to which the appearance of the radio set can/is suited to lead the thought of the viewer or user thereof.
A telecommunication set, especially a radio set according to the invention may comprise means for facilitating the carrying of the set by the listener, such as safety pins, bands, hooks, clamps, Velcro fastening means, earplugs etc. The set may also comprise a wire or wireless connection (e.g. by blue tooth.) between the receiver and a sound producing means, e.g. a loudspeaker, a head set or ear mussels.
The telecommunication set according to the invention may also, e.g. especially when using a radio or television set or mobile telephone, comprise, or be arranged for being connected to, means, especially digital means, for storing information transmitted to the set from a broadcasting station etc., information identifying the set or its user or owner, means, other than conventional means for adjusting the volume or tune of sound or other messages, tuning the wave-length etc., such as means permitting the user of the set to introduce a message into the set or to transfer a message from the set to a receiver through wire or wireless communication, e.g. Blue Tooth, IR etc, e.g. by the use of a stylus pen, especially into a memory in said set, e.g. in response to a question or other message received with the set, e.g. for winning a prize, obtaining an advantage, participating in a lottery or competition, indicating the taking notice of an advertisement, etc. The set may also comprise, or be arranged for connection to, display means, e.g. for displaying messages, advertisements, logotypes, etc.
The invention comprises also the use, supplying, sale, hire out, giving away, or holding available in any other way, of the telecommunication receiver set in combination with transmitting information through said set, especially advertisements concerning the products, events, persons, etc., to which the thought of the user or perceiver of the set may be or is intended to be led by the appearance etc. of the telecommunication set.
The size of the set is preferably small enough to permit the carrying of the set by a person on the dress, in the ears, on glasses, around the neck, in the hair, in a pocket, etc. such as a maximum extension in any direction, apart from antennas, wire connection to earphones etc, of at most 10 cm or at most 5 cm and/or an average extension calculated from a center point and calculating a smallest average in all space directions from said center of at most 5 cm, or at most 3 cm. Preferably the set is arranged or suited for being carried by the user in an exposed position so that the set can be perceived by other persons and the thoughts and impressions of the perceiver thereby influenced in the way explained above.
The invention also comprises a business method including the use of telecommunication receiving devices as defined above for submitting information including advertisement to the users of said receivers. Said business method preferably also comprises the selling of, or lending, or giving away free, or selling at a subsidized price, of the receiving devices to users of interest for the telecommunication submitter or his clients as receivers of the information, advertisements and other messages which can be received through said receiving devices.
The device may also be arranged for having a restricted useful life-time, such as by comprising means for locking or deleting one or more functions of the device, such as the functions of receiving an/or presenting messages. The restriction of the lifetime may be achieved by means built into the device, such as a source of electric power, such as an electric battery (including primary and secondary cell(s)) and/or other source of power of restricted capacity for operating the device, such as a source of electric power, which is not intended to and/or cannot, by the laymen, be at all or at least not easily exchanged or recharged without damaging or destroying the device or its function as a telecommunication receiver. Such means may comprise means for maintaining an intermittent or continuous flow (or leakage) of electric current from a main or auxiliary source of electric power so that said source and/or the device is thereby made inactive., or a count down means, such as a digital means, which after a certain period of time or at a certain point of time makes the device unusable in one or more respects. The restriction of the life or period of use of the device may also be achieved with the aid of means outside the device, which may e.g. be prearranged to discontinue one or more of its functions, such as the functions of receiving and/or presenting messages, such means comprising e.g. electromagnetic signals received by the device, which trigger said restriction. The restriction of the lifetime may also be partial in that one or more exchangeable parts of the device, which are essential for its use and functionality in one or more respects, such as for receiving and presenting messages, have a restricted lifetime. Such a part may be a part which may contribute to or is essential for leading the thought of a person perceiving the device in a desired direction, such as a part comprising a logotype or a trade mark, especially other than a logotype or trade mark for the maker of the device or parts, especially exchangeable parts, thereof, such as a source of electric power, such as an electric battery
An exchangeable part of the device may also comprise e.g. tuning means which tune the device for receiving messages at a certain channel or frequency, or other reception controlling means, which are unique for each type of exchangeable parts from a set of such types. The exchangeable part of such a type may have a certain distinguishable shape, which makes it suited for leading the thought of a perceiver/observer thereof in a certain direction, as suggested above. As an example, in this way advertisements for a certain product or other item may be exclusively broadcasted to and/or received by a user of the device when it comprises as the exchangeable part such a part which has a shape which is suited to lead the thought of a person observing said exchangeable part to the product or other item for which advertisement is broadcasted, such as the logotype, trade mark or name of the producer of said product or other item.
As a plan, a broadcasting station "XYZ" sending reports from a mayor sports event comprising a series of competitions within a period of time of a fortnight and sponsored by a first customer/main sponsor organisation "ABC" would arrange for said organisation distribution to persons believed to be interested in the sport in question of small radio receivers suited to be worn visibly on the upper part of the body and showing on the visible part thereof the trade mark/logo or other identifying means of said first customer/main sponsor of said sports event. The radio receivers are tuned to receive broadcasting only on a channel by which said reports and advertisements for the main sponsor are broadcasted by the broadcasting station. The receivers may be used together with ear mussels for listening. The receivers may be provided with an exchangeable source of electric power. As an alternative the receivers may be provided with an integrated non-exchangeable source of electric power which could be calculated to permit hstening during the entire sports event but not substantially longer, e.g. in case the broadcasting station "XYZ" intends to send advertisements for a second customer "DEF" by the same broadcasting channel to listeners provided in similar way with similar radio receivers provided with the trade mark or other identifying means of said second customer "DEF".
The radio receivers may e.g. be sold, e.g. at a subsidized, low price, through shops; and if it is desired, measures could be taken for recovering said receivers, such as receivers provided with identifying means for said first customer "ABC", when returned to said shops within a certain period of time, in which case the person returning the radio receiver may be offered e.g. a receipt permitting participation in a lottery and/or offered a new radio receiver with the trade mark/logo or other identifying means of a further broadcasting customer, such as said second customer "DEF", of the broadcasting from said station.
The radio receiver may also comprise a detachable part showing the trade mark/logo or other identifying means of a broadcasting customer, and optionally also comprising a part of the radio receiver mechanism which is essential for the functionality of the receiver, especially a source of electric power, which may be arranged to deliver electric power during the period of time when advertisement for the customer in question is broadcasted for reception by the receiver, and optionally not essentially longer.
