Abstract

The invention concerns a device for controlling the disconnection of sleeve joint means (6) comprising a nipple (7A) and a faucet (7B) ensuring the connection between the proximal end (8) of a urinary catheter and the distal end (9) of a tube (5) connected to a bag for collecting urine. Said device is characterised in that it comprises two parts (11A, 11B) one of which (11A) constitutes means for connecting the device (10) to the proximal end (8) of the catheter (2) or to the distal end (9) of the tube (5),whereas the other part (11B), while being integral with the first (11A), is designed to extend above said joint means (6) once the two joining pieces (7A, 7B) have been fitted into each other, said other part (11B) capable of breaking if said joint means (6) are disconnected.

DISCONNECTION CONTROL DEVICE FOR URINAIKE PROBE

The invention relates to a device for controlling disconnection of interlocking junction means comprising a male end piece and a female end piece and ensuring the junction between the proximal end of a urinary catheter and the distal end of a connected tube. to a urine collection bag.

Such a device will find its application in the medical environment, in the field of prevention of nosocomial infections and relates, more particularly, to devices intended for the prevention of the risks of infection of the lower uπnary apparatus after implantation of an evacuation system. uπnaire.

Such a urinary evacuation system consists of two parts, the unary probe permanently implanted in the patient and the drainage system which is essentially in the form of a tube connected to a urine collection bag. These two parts are intended to be connected to each other by means of interlocking Tunction means comprising a male end piece and a female end piece, these equipping, on the one hand, the proximal end of said probe and, on the other hand , the distal end of said tube.

In order to prevent any risk of infection, this evacuation system must not be in contact with a potentially infectious environment and must therefore operate in a closed system. However, an operation of this type is difficult to ensure in a completely effective manner, more particularly due to the presence of said means of nonction. Indeed, the latter are likely to be disconnected, either untimely, in particular during a false movement by the nursing staff or by the patient, or on a voluntary basis, in particular by a nurse wishing to perform a levy. Such disconnection significantly increases the risk of contamination and infection.

Also, in order to remedy these contamination problems resulting from such disconnection, there are a number of devices intended to strengthen the connection of said joining means or, at least, to avoid their disconnection.

We know, more particularly, through American patent n ^c 4,194,509 a sealing device in the form of a strip of heat-shrinkable plastic applied above said joining means. This strip is implanted during the manufacture of the probe and requires, for its installation, in particular to provide heat shrinkage, an additional specific device which is not necessarily available in all hospital departments. For this reason, the device is manufactured and distributed on the market in the form of a ready-to-use kit. In this kit, the connection between the probe and the tube connecting the collecting bag is already made and sealed by means of said sealing device, designed, therefore, for single use. It should be noted that this device is also provided with a precut tab allowing the removal of said strip, in particular in order to replace the collecting bag. However, if such a replacement is indeed possible, it will be observed that nothing is provided to ensure the sealing of the new connection.

Also known, through French Patent No. 2,717,676, a clamping ring also disposed at the connection of two end pieces constituting, respectively, the proximal and distal end of the probe and of the tube connected to the collecting bag. This clamping ring has a gripping loop which, when a traction is exerted thereon, makes it possible to reduce the diameter of said ring and therefore ensures the tightening of the first nozzle on the second. Such a device does not however make it possible to completely avoid the disconnection of the two nested nipples, by force, one inside the other. Indeed, it is always possible that such a disconnection occurs intentionally or accidentally. In such a case, the nurse, especially if she is not aware or if she is badly informed of the consequences of these acts, is sometimes led to reconnect the same two tips, or even to replace the clamping ring without precautions. particular and without it being possible to know, a posteriori, whether there has been a disconnection or not. Knowing that the simple fact of disconnecting or reconnecting the same tips inevitably results in pollution of the urinary evacuation system, such an operation leads to a significant increase in the risks of infection due, precisely, to the lack of means of disconnection control.

The object of the present invention is to remedy all of the drawbacks mentioned above through a particularly simple and effective disconnection control device requiring, for its implementation, no specific dressing or equipment.

To this end, the invention relates to a device for controlling disconnection of interlocking junction means comprising a male end piece and a female end piece and * ensuring the junction between the proximal end of a urinary catheter and the distal end of a tube connected to a urine collection bag, characterized in that it comprises two parts, one of which constitutes means for connecting the device to the proximal end of the probe or to the distal end of the tube, while that the other part, while being integral with the previous one, is designed to extend above said junction means once the two end pieces are fitted, this other part being likely to break in the event of disconnection of said joining means.

Such a disconnection control device can advantageously be installed on the urinary evacuation system composed of the probe and the collecting bag which are preassembled directly during its manufacture. It can also be implanted on the tube of a replacement collecting bag or on the proximal end of the probe, as well as, if necessary, be marketed independently.

The fact that this device is liable to break in the event of disconnection allows, for its manufacture, the use of not very resistant and inexpensive materials such as paper.

Other objects and advantages of this invention will appear during the description which follows, relating to an embodiment which is given only by way of an indicative and nonlimiting example.

The understanding of this description will be facilitated by referring to the attached drawing, in which:

- Figure 1 is a schematic and partial view of a urine evacuation system;

Figure 2 is a view similar to the previous showing an enlargement of the joining means;

- Figure 3 is a schematic plan view of the disconnection control device, according to the invention.

As shown in Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing, the present invention relates to the field of systems urinary evacuation system 1 as used for drainage of urine in a patient.

Such a urinary evacuation system 1 comprises, on the one hand, a urinary catheter 2, the distal end of which is introduced into the human body, and, on the other hand, a drainage system 3. More specifically, this system of drainage 3 is generally constituted by a collecting bag 4 to which the proximal end of a tube 5 is connected.

Said urinary probe 2 is connected to the drainage system 3 by junction means 6 by interlocking. These joining means 6 comprise a male end piece 7A, more particularly of conical shape, intended to be received by a female end piece 7B having a housing of complementary shape. More specifically, one of these nozzles, respectively 7B or 7A, is fitted to the proximal end 8 of said probe 2, while the other nozzle, 7A or 7B, equips the distal end 9 of the tube 5.

The present invention relates more particularly to a device for controlling disconnection 10 of the junction means 6, this device 10 comprising two parts IIA, 11B. According to a first embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3, the first part IIA constitutes connection means 12 of the device 10 at the distal end 9 of the tube 5 as for the second part 11B, it is integral with the first part IIA and is designed to extend above the joining means 6 once the ends 7A, 7B have been fitted.

According to a second embodiment not shown, this first part IIA can also constitute means 12 for connecting the device 10 to the proximal end 8 of the probe 2 while the second part 11B is brought to extend, however, above said joining means 6 as indicated above.

It is precisely this second part 11B which is liable to be damaged and / or break in the event of movement of the end pieces 7A, 7B relative to each other and, more particularly, in the event of disconnection of said means. junction 6.

To this end, the disconnection control device 10 is constituted by a strip 13 made of a material allowing such a break, in particular in paper or in a suitable synthetic material. Such a material advantageously makes it possible to propose the device 10 at a very low cost price, but also in several different shapes and / or colors.

Advantageously, on the device 10 can be printed a message of awareness and / or information for the attention of any person who might have to separate the urinary probe 2 from the drainage system 3. This printing is all the easier to perform if this device is made of a material such as paper or synthetic material.

In this regard, moreover, and as indicated above, the device 10 can be produced in a color sufficiently conspicuous to attract attention.

As shown in more detail in FIGS. 2 and 3, said strip 13 comprises a strip 14 defining said first part IIA and constituting the connection means 12. This strip 14 is intended to be wound, totally or partially, for example , around the distal end 9 of said tube 5 so as to be made integral with the latter. For this purpose, this strip 14 is of the adhesive type. and has one of its surfaces pre-glued and initially protected by an adequate protective tab.

Said strip 13 comprises, in addition, a second strip 15 defining the second part 11B, integral with the previous one

14 while being arranged perpendicular thereto, this, precisely, so as to allow this second strip

15 to extend above the fitted ends 7A, 7B. To this end, this second strip 15 is also provided with an adhesive film 16 which can be protected initially, in particular by a retractable protective tab.

As emerges from the preceding description, said strips 14, 15 may both have an adhesive surface, in particular initially protected by a protective tab. In this case, it will be noted that these strips 14, 15 are adhesive, preferably on the same side of the strip 13.

It will be observed that the adhesive gluing the surface of the strips 14 and 15 may be of different type but will be chosen so as not to damage the material, of generally silicone type, constituting the various elements of the urinary evacuation system 1.

In addition, in order to avoid re-bonding after detachment, this adhesive is chosen so that it is permanent and not of the repositionable type.

In addition and according to a pre erential embodiment, said protective tabs initially covering the adhesive surfaces of the strips 14, 15 are separate, so that their removal can be done independently. This allows, for example, when installing the device 10, to make, first of all, a first connection of the first strip 14 on the tube 5 or on the urinary catheter 2 before extending the second strip 15 over the nipples 7A, 7B fitted.

In this regard, it should be noted that it is preferable to make said strip 14 integral with the drainage system 3 or the urinary catheter 2 directly during their manufacture, which will advantageously make it possible to avoid nursing staff forgetting to make use of said device 10. However, it is obvious that this in no way prevents the manufacture and marketing of such a device 10 completely independently.

It should be noted that, if in the foregoing description, mention has been made of a strip 13 which is in the form of two strips 14 and 15 arranged perpendicularly, such a strip 13 can obviously have any other shape.

Finally, the invention makes it possible to prevent in a simple and effective manner the risks of infection of the urinary tract by infectious contamination of the urinary evacuation system through a device of particularly simple and inexpensive design. Such a device also makes it possible to inform and educate users and thus contribute, in a didactic way, to their training.

In addition, such a disconnection control device can advantageously equip the urinary catheter and / or the drainage system. Thus, if one wishes to work in a closed system, it is possible to acquire the probe or the drainage system independently, moreover sold separately in most cases, without necessarily being forced to obtain these two elements already assembled. Furthermore and considering, moreover, that it is also possible to acquire the disconnection control device completely independently, the invention presents a significant economic advantage not only from the point of view of the cost price of a such a device but also the fact that its use makes it possible to substantially reduce the risks of urinary tract infections and, consequently, the cost of care which results therefrom.

Consequently, the present invention advantageously responds to the problem posed by the state of the art, and represents significant progress in the field under consideration.

Device for controlling disconnection of junction means (6) by fitting comprising a male end piece (7A) and a female end piece (7B) and ensuring the junction between the proximal end (8) of a urinary catheter (2) and the distal end (9) of a tube (5) connected to a urine collection bag (4), characterized in that it comprises two parts (IIA, 11B), one of which (IIA) constitutes means for connecting (12) the device (10) to the proximal end (8) of the probe (2) or to the distal end (9) of the tube (5), while the other part (11B) , while being integral with the previous one (IIA), is designed to extend above said joining means

2. Disconnection control device according to claim 1, characterized in that it is constituted by a strip (13) comprising a first strip (14) defining the first part (IIA) as well as a second strip (15) defining the second part (11B) and arranged perpendicular to the first (14).
