DESIGN FOR THE LOWER CA'SE LETTERS. POINTS. AND FIGURES OF A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 8,896, dated January 11,1876; application filed November B, 1875. [Term of Patent 14 years] To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, of the city and County of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have originated and Designed a new Pattern for a` Font of Printing-Types, of which the following is a specification:

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and consists of the lower-case letters, points, and figures of a font Ot' rinting-types, in style and shape between Old English, or Black,`and f'Secretary letter, ornamented by curved or hooked eX- tremities, which terminate in a black point Or dot. Some of the letters have a forked 0I` split foot or head, and n'early all have, in some portion suitable for it, a White dot or pearlthe whole, in character, being similar to the design for capitals forwhich Letters Patent No. 6,890, dated September 23, 1873, were granted to Edwin C. Ruthven, of Philadelphia, whose assignment for the same I hold. These lower-case letters, points, and figures are intended to be used in connection With the said capitals.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design or pattern for the lower-ease letters, points, and figures for a font of ornamented printing-types, herein described and shown.
