DESIGN FOR A BOX.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom 'it 'mcy concern Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS H. M nRsHoN, of East Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented a new and original Design for Boxes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in theart to make and use the same, reference heilig had to the accompanying drawing forming part oi' this specification, in which rlhe drawing represents a perspective view of my new design for a box.

This invention relates to a new manner of shaping the sides, top, and bottom oi' packingboxes, and consists in making the boards used for the saine thicker at the outer than at the inner edges.

The boards a a, which constitute each side ofthe box are tapering, so as to be thicker at the outer edges than at the inner, as is clearly shown. A novel appearance is thus obtained, as well as a useful result, as the thicker outer parts of the boards provide a good hold for the nails, while the inner edges receive uo nails.

lVhere more than two boards are used for one side of the box, I propose to make those in the middle as thin as the thin edges of the tapering outer boards. Either the sides only, or top and bottom, or both, may be provided with such tapering boards.
