To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, H. A. Dnvnxnonr, of Port Jackson, in the county of Montgomery, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in' Paper Boxes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which-V Figure 1 is a plan;

Figure 3, a top View,v and Figure 4, a side elevationfthe several drawings representing the different stages of the process of manufacturing a paper box by my improved method.

This invention relates to an improvement in the manner of constructing paper boxes, whereby they can be made more economically, and with less labor,

Having cut out the strips in this form, and placed the height them as described, I trace a line, cc, to guide in forming the bottom of rthe box, and then slit the sides of the pieces A B, from the corners where' their edges intersect, in a direction tangent, or nearly tangent to each side of the circle c, vas shown at e c.

That part of each strip between the line c and the slits c e is then bent up around the curved line, formlinner piece B, to which they are firmly attached by some suitable glueor adhesive gum. iinished and ready for use. V

The box is shown with three sides formed, in iig. 4,

and in fig. 3 the relative positions of the different parts can be clearly seen bythe brown, red, and blue lines.

It is evident that the thickness and strength ofthe box can be increased to any extent, by building up the walls and bottom in this way.

It is further evident that the box can be made octagonal or polygonal in shape, if preferred.

Having thus described my invention,
