DESIGN FOR A CHAIN.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSIAH V. VALDRON and CHARLES F. WALDRON, both of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Rectangular' Link-Chain; and we do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to niake and use the saine, reference being had to the. accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, which drawing represents a plan of this design.
Our invention relates to a chain which is principally intended for harness purposes, and which is made of oblong flat rectangular links, alternating with links made of wire, in such a manner that a chain is obtained which presents a new, distinguishing, and ornamental appearance, and which can be used as a martingale-chain or as the head-stall, or in any other place on a harness where an ornamental chain is desirable.
In the drawing- 'lhe letter A designates a chain made ot links c, alternatingr wit-h links b.
The links a are made of sheet metal in the forni of rectangles, while the links b are made of wire, and so connect the links b as to be concealed in the inanner shown hy the parts broken away in the drawing.
By making the links a in a tint rectangular' shape, and by concealing the links c as described, our chain obtains a new and distinguishing appearance.
