DESIGN FOR A SIGN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,734, dated June 15, 1886.
Application filed October 10, 1885. Serial No. 179,519. Term of patent '7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, JOHN C. BURNELL and J OIIN MEYER, the former of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, and the latter of Covington, Kenton county, Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Design for a Sign; and we do hereby declare the following to be afnll, clear, and exact description of said invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a front view of our newly-designed sign. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same sign.
Our new sign is intended to represent the one-half of a keg or cask, and its appearance is that of the outside of a keg or cask in iongitndinal half-section, and is in alto-rilievo, so as not only to represent but to configure the one-half of a keg or cask in halfsection, as aforesaid.
In the drawings, a a represent the stares,
and b b the hoops, and c the half of the head of the keg in imitation of the half of a keg or eask. The two ends of the sign are alike, and Fig. 2 is a representation of each end. Ihe parts above describcd,which are in alto-rilievo and represent the half of a keg. are affixed at the line of apparent sectional division of the keg to a plane base, (I.
What We claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a sign herein shown and described, eonsisting of a configuration and representation in alto'rilievo oi the longitudinal half-section of a keg or cask having staves a a, two series of hoops, b b, and half-heads c, all aflixed to a plane base or background, d.
