Letters Patent No. 90,190, dated May 18, 1869.
IMPROVED HOLDER FOR SCREW-CUTTIN DIES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, Anser. PHINNEY, of Bainbridge, in the county of Chenango, and State of New York,
have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hold-V ers for Screw-Cutting Dies; and I do hereby declare that the followingisa full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specication, vin which- Figure 1 represents a sectional elevation of my im proved device, taken on the line xa: of g. 1, and
Figure 2 represents a horizontal section of the same, taken on the line y y of Eig. l. v
Figure 3 represents aside elevation of my improved holder.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved bolder or die-plate for dies for cutting screws.
It consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
A represents a die-plate, in which the dies are secured in the ordinary manner, to one face of which the crotched shank B is connected, at right angles thereto, the outer end of which is fitted to be inserted in a hand-brace or bit-stock, as shown at C.
By this arrangement, it is believed that a much better control of the action of the dies may be had, and that they may be operated much faster than with the plates, as now constructed.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The construction and arrangement of the die-plate A, having the dies and set-screw, and the crotched shankiB, terminating in the end, G, adapted to f t in a bit-stock, herein described, for the purpose specified.
