SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 788,834, dated May 2, 1905.
Application led April 26,1904. Serial No. 204,953.
To @ZZ whom it r11/ty concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK KAMPEE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to razors.
In the accompanying drawings. which illustrate a construction embodying the preferred form of my invention, Figure l is a side elevation partially cutaway. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 3 is a backview, Fig. 4L a top view, and Fig. 5 a cross-section taken on the line 5 5 of Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference designate corm responding parts in all the figures.
Referring to the construction shown in the drawings, A designates an ordinary handle to which a blade-holder' B and shank Care pivotally connected.
D designates a blade which is detachable from the blade-holder and which slides in and out of the same and may be secured therein in any suitable manner.
The blade-holder and shank .will preferably be formed 'of one piece of metal, bent up, as shown, to form the two side portions bof the blade-holder proper and `to form also the two side walls c of the shank. Intermediate these two side walls c c is placed a piece of friction material, such as rubber E, which projects beyond the side walls c of the shanks at both the top and bottom to form grips e c', respectively. Preferably these grips c e will be corrugated to give a better hold.
What I claim as new isl. In a razor, a blade, a bladeholder, a shank connected thereto and friction material arranged intermediate the walls of said shank and projecting therefrom.
2. In a razor, a blade, a bladediolder, a shank connected thereto, and friction material arranged intermediate the walls of said shank and projecting therefrom at both top and bottom.
3. In a razor, a blade, a blade-holder, a shank connected thereto and friction material arranged intermediate the walls of said shank and projecting therefrom at both top and bottom to form grips, which grips are provided with corrugations.
In witness whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK KAMPFE.
I/Vitnesses H. ADOLPH WINKorr, PETER MEYER.
