Y bridge, which are intended to be cast of metal, or which may bemade of wood if desirablez but I propose generally to make this bridge of metal. .Cast upon each sid'eof theseties or ribs is a series of wings, A A, some of which are provided with lugs upon their edges, and some with recesses, into lwhich the lugs are tted, for the purpose of keeping'the sections thus formed by the ties andtheir .wings from moving laterally out of position. The wings 'are slightly tapering from topV to bottom on their edges, so'that when the sections are placed together, withthe wings in line, and bearing against each other, as representedfthe bridge will have arsuitable arch. 'Each section is secured to itscontiguo'us section by means of form-bolts, suitably distributed, so that the whole will be securely. bound together. l 4 i Three wings are here represented on each side of each cross-tie, and theymeetat the centres of' the ties. The centre wings may be left oif when only ya. single track is` required- The bridge of course is lcovered with ooring, as`usual.
Having thus fully described my invention, wha.t I- claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is-f- The bridge herein described, lcomposed of sections, consisting ofthe crossties or ribs B -B and wings A A provided with lugs and recesses, as described, the several sections being bolted together as and for the purpose set forth. i
