Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN DURHAM, OF CHERRY GROVE, OHIO.
IBOO'J.1 JACK.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 30,913, dated December 18, 1860.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN DURHAM, of Cherry Grove, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Boot-jack; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view 4of the open jack. Figs. 2 and 3 represent by sectional and perspective views of the closed condition thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
The subject of this invention is a boot jack, whose fork or crotch is adapted when not in use to be folded compactly down within its frame and be covered by a lid which serves also to hold the crotch in its open or extended position when required for use.
A, is a triangular open frame having a crotch B, hinged (b, to its front portion and a lid O, hinged c) to its rear portion.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the frame A, with the folding indented crotch B, b', and the lid C, c, adapted to hold the crotch to its open position and to cover it in its closed position, substantially as set forth.
In testimony of which invention, I hereunto set my hand.
JOHN DURHAM. Witnesses:
GEO. I-I. KNIGHT, FRANCIS MILLWARD.
