Abstract
A hanger includes a rack and an elevating device. The rack is connected to a flat-panel television. The elevating device includes a ropes a reel and a motor. The rope is connected to the rack. The reel is used to reel the rope. The motor is used to rotate the reel so that the elevation of the flat-panel television is adjustable.
Description
- 1. Field of invention
- The present invention relates to a flat-panel television hanger
- 2. Related Prior Art
- Flat-panel televisions such as liquid crystal televisions and plasma televisions are often used in show rooms and conference rooms because they are thin, provide wide screens, generate low radiation and show digits clearly. To emphasize the advantage that a flat-panel television is thin and occupies a small space, it is often hung on a wall or from a ceiling. A hanger has to be used to hang the flat-panel television on the wall or from the ceiling.
- There is a conventional hanger for hanging a flat-panel television from a ceiling. With this conventional hanger, the elevation, pivot and tilt of the flat-panel television cannot be adjusted. Therefore, the flat-panel television cannot be watched properly.
- There is another conventional hanger for hanging a flat-panel television from a ceiling. With this conventional hanger, the elevation of the flat-panel television can be adjusted. The operation of this conventional hanger is however noisy.
- The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in prior art.
- A hanger includes a rack and an elevating device. The rack is connected to a flat-panel television. The elevating device includes a rope, a reel and a motor. The rope is connected to the rack. The reel is used to reel the rope. The motor is used to rotate the reel so that the elevation of the flat-panel television is adjustable.
- The primary advantage of the hanger according to the present invention is to quietly lower the flat-panel television to a proper elevation in use and lift the flat-panel television in storage.
- Other advantages, objectives and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description referring to the attached drawings.
- The present invention will be described via the detailed illustration of two embodiments referring to the drawings.

FIG. 8 is a perspective view of a hanger for hanging a flat-panel television on a wall according to the second embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 through 7 , there is shown a hanger according to a first embodiment of the present invention. The hanger includes arack 10 for holding a flat-panel television and a supportingset 20 for supporting therack 10 so that the elevation, angle and tilt of the flat-panel television is adjustable. The supportingset 20 includes anelevating device 30, apivoting device 50 and atilting device 70. - A front side of the
rack 10 is shown inFIG. 2 while a rear side of therack 10 is shown inFIG. 3 . Therack 10 includes abackbone 11, tworibs 12, twoangle bars 13 and aconnector 16. One of theribs 12 is secured to thebackbone 11 by a threadedbolt 121 while theother rib 12 is secured to thebackbone 11 by a threadedbolt 122. A knob is provided on the threadedbolt 122. A user can rotate the threadedbolt 122 by operating the knob with a bare hand. - Each of the
angle bars 13 includes a middle strip and two lateral strips. Each of the lateral strips of each of theangle bars 13 includes twoapertures 15 for receiving theribs 12 so that theangle bars 13 are movably mounted on theribs 12.Pushers 19 and threadedbolts 191 are used to retain the position of theangle bars 13 on theribs 12. The middle strip of each of theangle bars 13 includesapertures 131. Twoanchors 14 are secured to the flat-panel television byscrews 141. Twopads 134 are secured to the flat-panel television byscrews 132. Awasher 133 is provided between each of thepads 134 and the enlarged head of a related one of thescrews 132. - The
anchors 14 can be disposed in selective ones of theapertures 131 while thepads 134 are pressed against theangle bars 13. Thus, the flat-panel television is attached to therack 10. - The
connector 16 includes twogears 17 formed thereon. Theconnector 16 is secured to the rear side of thebackbone 11. - A
control unit 90 is used to control the hanger. Thecontrol unit 90 includes acircuit board 92 attached to the front side of thebackbone 11 and a cover attached to the front side of thebackbone 11 for covering thecircuit board 92. Thecontrol unit 90 may be a wire control unit or a remote control unit based on a radio frequency technique. Or may be a unit with both wire control and remote control based on a radio frequency technique. - Referring to
FIGS. 4 and 5 , theelevating device 30 includes acase 38, atube 39, aguide 31, tworods 32, anupper disc 324, alower disc 33, amotor 34, agear system 35, areel 36 and arope 37. - The
case 38 can be attached to a ceiling. Thetube 39 is extended from thecase 38. Theguide 31 includes anupper block 311, alower block 313 and amiddle block 312 located between theupper block 311 and thelower block 313. A micro-switch 314 is provided on theupper block 311. Theguide 31 includes amiddle tunnel 316 defined therein and twolateral tunnels 317 defined therein. - The
rods 32 are movably inserted through thelateral tunnels 317. A lining 321 is provided between asleeve 322 and each of therods 32. Each of thesleeves 322 is formed with aridge 323. Theupper disc 324 is secured to upper ends of therods 32. A pulley 325 is provided on theupper disc 324. Thelower disc 33 is secured to lower ends of therods 32. Theguide 31 is fit in and secured to thetube 39. Therods 32 can be inserted into and drawn from thetube 39. Therods 32 are smoothly moveable relative to thetube 39 for the use of theguide 31. - The
motor 34, thegear system 35 and thereel 36 are disposed in thecase 38. Themotor 34 is engaged with thegear system 35. Thegear system 35 is connected to thereel 36. Therope 37 includes an upper end secured to thereel 36 and a lower end secured to thelower disc 33 or a portion of the pivotingdevice 50. Therope 37 can be wound on thereel 36. The direction of therope 37 is changed by the pulley 325. Therope 37 is directed through themiddle tunnel 316 of theguide 31. - A
circuit board 381 is disposed in thecase 38 and electrically connected to themicro-switch 314. - The
motor 34 can be actuated to rotate, through thegear system 35, thereel 36 in a direction to wound therope 37, thus lifting the flat-panel television. Themotor 34 can be actuated to rotate thereel 36 in an opposite direction to release therope 37, thus lowering the flat-panel television. Themotor 34 can be turned off when themicro-switch 314 is reached by theupper disc 324. - The pivoting
device 50 includes aframe 52, upper andlower bearings 51, aring 53, agear 54, apinion 55 and amotor 56. Theframe 52 includes amiddle portion 58 and twolateral portions 71 extended downwards from themiddle portion 58. Twoarched slots 60 are defined in themiddle portion 58 of theframe 52. - Each of the
bearings 51 includes afirst ring 511, asecond ring 512, athird ring 513 andballs 514. Thethird ring 513 and theballs 514 are provided between therings third ring 513 includesapertures 62 for receiving theballs 514 and twoarched slots 64 corresponding to thearched slots 60. Thesecond ring 512 includes agroove 65 for receiving theballs 514 and twoarched slots 66 corresponding to thearched slots 60. Thefirst ring 511 includesapertures 67 defined therein. - The
rope 37 is directed through thelower disc 33, theupper bearing 51, theframe 52, thelower bearing 51, thering 53 and thegear 54. The lower end of therope 37 is clamped between thegear 54 and apusher 57 that is secured to thegear 54 by threaded bolts. - The
middle portion 58 of theframe 52 is located between thebearings 51. Threadedbolts 515 are inserted through apertures defined in thelower disc 33, theapertures 67 and thearched slots bolts 515 are engaged with nuts 68. Thus, thebearings 51 and theframe 52 are attached to thelower disc 33, and theframe 52 can be rotated relative to thelower disc 33. Thering 53 is attached to thefirst ring 511 of thelower bearing 51. Thegear 54 is attached to thering 53. Thus, thegear 54 cannot be rotated relative to thelower disc 33. - The
pinion 55 is engaged with thegear 54. Themotor 56 is connected to thepinion 55. Themotor 56 is attached to one of thelateral portions 71 of theframe 52. Themotor 56 can be actuated to rotate thepinion 55 relative to thegear 54 so that theframe 52 is rotated relative to thelower disc 33. - Two covers 75 and 76 are attached to the
frame 52 for concealing and protecting the pivotingdevice 50 and thetilting device 70. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 5 , the tiltingdevice 70 includes ashaft 74 on which thegears 17 of therack 10 are mounted with twobearings 18. The tiltingdevice 70 further includes amotor 72 and agear system 73. Themotor 72 is attached to one of thelateral portions 71 of theframe 52. Thegear system 73 is connected to themotor 72 on one hand and engaged with thegears 17 of therack 10 on the other hand. Themotor 72 can be actuated to rotate thegears 17 of therack 10 through thegear system 73, thus tilting therack 10 and therefore the flat-panel television. Themotors control unit 90. - Referring to
FIG. 7 , the elevation, angle and tilt of therack 10 are adjustable by operating thecontrol unit 90. Therack 10 can be located horizontally and lifted so that it is close to the ceiling. - Referring to
FIG. 8 , there is shown a hanger according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The second embodiment is like the first embodiment except including amount 40 instead of the elevatingdevice 30. Themount 40 includes arail 41 attached to a wall and aslide 42 movably mounted on therail 41. The pivotingdevice 50 is attached to theslide 42. Hence, the horizontal position, instead of the elevation, of therack 10 is adjustable. - The present invention has been described via the detailed illustration of the embodiments. Those skilled in the art can derive variations from the embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the embodiments shall not limit the scope of the present invention defined in the claims.
Claims (23)
1. A hanger comprising:
a rack connected to a flat-panel television; and
an elevating device comprising a rope connected to the rack, a reel for reeling the rope and a motor for rotating the reel so that the elevation of the flat-panel television is adjustable.
2. The hanger according to claim 1 wherein the elevating device comprises a case attached to the ceiling for containing the reel and the motor.
3. The hanger according to claim 1 wherein the elevating device comprises a gear system for connecting the reel to the motor.
4. The hanger according to claim 1 wherein the elevating device comprises:
a tube attached to a ceiling;
two rods each comprising an upper end movably inserted in the tube and a lower end connected to the rack; and
a guide fit in the tube for guiding the rods.
5. The hanger according to claim 4 wherein the elevating device comprises a disc attached to the lower ends of the rods on one hand and connected to rack on the other hand.
6. The hanger according to claim 5 comprising a pivoting device provided between the rack and the disc so that the angle of the rack is adjustable.
7. The hanger according to claim 6 wherein the pivoting device comprises:
a frame pivotally connected to the disc;
a gear non-rotationally connected to the elevating device (30);
a motor connected to the frame; and
a gear system connected to the motor on one hand and engaged with the gear on the other hand.
8. The hanger according to claim 7 wherein the pivoting device comprises:
an upper bearing comprising a first ring attached to the disc and a second ring attached to the frame; and
a lower bearing comprising a first ring attached to the gear and a second ring attached to the frame.
9. The hanger according to claim 8 wherein each of the upper and lower bearings comprises:
a third ring disposed between the first and second rings and formed with apertures; and
balls disposed in the apertures for rolling between the first and second rings.
10. The hanger according to claim 9 wherein the second ring comprises an annular groove for receiving the balls.
11. The hanger according to claim 10 wherein the first ring comprises apertures defined therein, and the second ring comprises two arched slots defined therein, and the third ring comprises two arched apertures defined therein, and the pivoting device comprises two threaded bolts inserted in the apertures through the arched slots.
12. The hanger according to claim 8 wherein the frame comprises:
a middle portion provided between the second rings of the upper and lower bearings; and
two lateral portions extended from the middle portion.
13. The hanger according to claim 12 comprising two covers attached to the lateral portions of the frame for concealing and protecting the pivoting device.
14. The hanger according to claim 5 comprising a tilting device provided between the rack and the disc so that the tilt of the rack is adjustable.
15. The hanger according to claim 14 wherein the tilting device comprises:
a connector attached to the rack and formed with at least one gear;
a shaft attached to the disc for rotationally supporting the gear;
a motor attached to the disc; and
a gear system connected to the motor on one hand and engaged with the gear on the other hand.
16. The hanger according to claim 1 comprising a control unit electrically connected to the elevating device.
17. The hanger according to claim 16 wherein the control unit is a wire control unit.
18. The hanger according to claim 16 comprising a control unit is radio frequency control unit.
19. The hanger according to claim 6 comprising a control unit electrically connected to the elevating and pivoting devices.
20. The hanger according to claim 14 comprising a control unit electrically connected to the elevating and tilting devices.
21. A hanger comprising:
a rack connected to a flat-panel television;
a tilting device connected to the rack so that the tilt of the rack is adjustable; and
a pivoting device connected to the tilting device so that the angle of the tilting device is adjustable.
22. The hanger according to claim 21 comprising a mount connected to the pivoting device on one hand and connected to a wall on the other hand so that the horizontal position of the pivoting device is adjustable.
23. The hanger according to claim 22 wherein the mount comprises:
a rail attached to the wall; and
a slide movably mounted the rail on one hand and attached to the pivoting device on the other hand.
