SOAP HOLDER Application filed January 16, 1930. Serial No. 421,226.
This invention relates to improvements in soap holders.
The primary object of the invention resides in a soap holder which may be placed upon the drain board of a sink or wash basin for supporting a cake of soap in a position so as to be above the level of any water which might accumulate beneath the holder due to drainage from the soap after use, thus serving to increase the life of a cake of soap and preventing softening of the soap commonly caused by the soap resting in its own drain water.
Another object is to provide a soap holder which constitutes a ring like body upon which a cake of soap is supported, the under side of the body being provided with radially disposed slots to permit any drain water which might accumulate within the ring like body from reaching the cake of soap supported thereon.
A further object is to provide a soap holder which is extremely simple of construction, inexpensive of manufacture and easy to keep clean and which may be made in different shapes and design to suit the taste of all.
basin showing my improved soap holder in position thereon, and illustrating a cake of soap supported thereby.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the soap holder per se.
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view on the line 3-3 of Figure 2, but showing a cake of soap in a supported position.
Referring to the drawings by reference character, the numeral 10 designates my improved soap holder in its entirety which includes an annular ring like body 11, preferably constructed of rubber, but which may also be of any suitable material. The body 11 is provided with a central opening 12 and with a flat horizontalunder face 13, while the outer peripheral wall of the body is inclined downward as at 1 and the inner wall inclined downwardly and inwardly as at 15 so that any drain water reaching the ring like body 11 will pass on downwardly over the inclined wall onto the sink or other support on which the holder 10 is placed. The under face 13 of the body 11 is provided with radially disposed grooves 16 through which any water which may accumulate within the-central opening 12 may drain out to prevent the building up of a water level within the holder.
From the foregoing description, it will be seen that when the soap holder 10 is placed upon the drain of a sink or wash basin A, with the flat under face 13 in position there-- against, a cake of soap B after use may be placed upon the holder and supported as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings. Any water or moisture which might drain from the cake of soap B after use will pass down the inclined wall of the body 11, and as before stated any water draining within the central I opening 12 will pass out through the grooves 16, thus maintaining the cake of soap B in an I elevated position so as to thoroughly dry after use to prolong the life of the soap which when placed in the common soap dish is sub jected to the action of its own drain water.
Although I have stated that the body 11 is ring like in configuration, the same may be of various other shapes if desired, without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention. In view of thesimplicity of the soap holder, the same may be manufactured at extremely low cost.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A soap holder comprising a rubber ringlike body provided with a fiat under face for resting flat upon a support, the inner peripheral wall of said ring like body being inwardly inclined while the outer peripheral wall is inclined in an opposite direction, the fiat under side of said ring like body having radial grooves therein which open onto the outer and inner inclined peripheral walls, whereby any water from a cake of soap placed upon the top. edge of the ring like body will freely drain therefrom without accumulating within the confines of said body.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
JOSEPH BALESTRA. V
