One form of power driven hairchfppers heretofore used embodies a. hollow rame having a motor therein with a head having a cutting element which is operatively connected to the motor. Such clippers when once assembled have a definite and permanent relationship between the stationary and movable combs, wherefore the cutting element cannot be adjusted to vary the cuttlng depth. Accordingly the customary practice is to em loy clippers having a relatively close cuttin adjustment for part of the hair, then to emp 0y other clippers having a coarser adjustment for other parts of the ham. is necessitates the substitution of an entire unit, thus requiring the barber to maintain individual units for each cutting graduation.
One of the objects of my invention therefore is the a clipper having a detachable head, whereby one motor may function to coact with interchan eable heads. In this connection in invention contemplates the provision of means for enabling heads to be readily separated from the frame in an expeditious manner without effecting the adjustment of the cutting elements.

This arrangement of interlocking means provides a quick detachable connection between the head and frame and enables heads mounted on the shaft beyond the forward face of the frame. Thus, the worm and worm wheel are automatically brought into operating engagement whenever the head placed over the end of the frame and is locked thereto. 'lo effect such locking action the head is so placed over the frame that the pins 31 are disposed intermediate the member 30 whereupon the head i rotated with reference to the frame until the pinsare forced behind the ends of the member 30. The flexible characteristic of the member 30 functions to retain the pins in locked position.
An advantage of a clipper embodying my invention is the fact that heads having different degrees of cutting adjustment may be interchangeably mounted on the same frame, thus obviating the necessity for an individual motor for each head. A further advantage of my invention is the fact that the heads may be readily removed from the frame in an expeditious manner without necessitating the handling of any part of the clipper which may have loose particles of hair embedded therein.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a hair cutting device, the combination with a frame, of spaced flexible members carried thereby, each of said members having a locking shoulder thereon, a head having a cutting element mounted thereon,
said head having -means cooperating'with the shoulders on said members for locking it to said frame.
2. Ina hair clipping device, the combination with a frame, of an electric motor mounted therein, a head, a cutting element carried by the head, mechanism within the head for operatively connecting the element and motor, a pair of flexible members mounted on the forward face of the frame and spaced from the armature shaft of the motor, each of said members having a locking shoulder thereon, a pair of aligned inwardly projecting pins carried by the head, said pins being-adapted to engage behind the shoulders on said members for locking the head to the frame.
3. A clipping device comprising in combination a frame member, a cutter car mg member associated therewith and yiel able means including apair of fiat indentedspring strips for maintaining said members in adjusted position with reference to each other.
4. In combination, a frame, motor mounted therein, a head having a cutan electricting element and operating mechanism carried thereby, means including a pair of fiat spring strips, and coacting pins for detachably clamping the head to the frame, a driving member operated by the motor and projecting beyond the frame, and means for effecting automatic engagement between the member and mechanism when the head is brought into operative relationship with the frame.
5. In combination, a head member, a frame member, a pair of oppositely disposed pins mounted on one of said members, a pair of flat spring strips carried by the other of said members and coacting with the pins for clamping the members together, the frame member having an electric motor therein and the head member having a cutting element carried thereby, said cutting element being operatively connected to the motor when the head is clamped to the frame.
