COMBINED COAT AND HAT RACK.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it' known that I, LUCY E. BALDWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgman, in the county of Berrien, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Coat and Hat Racks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as'will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in a combined coat and hat rack and more particularly to those constructed exc1usively of wire and adapted to be readily attached to a wall or other support for convenient use.

The primary object of the invention is to construct a simple, practical and efficient device of the character described, which is rendered durable and yielding throughout its entire structure and capable of being self conforming to a coat or other simple garment supported thereby.

Briefly stated the invention consists of a centrally disposed support formed with eyes properly positioned through which suitable fastening devices are adapted to be disposed for securing the rack to the wall, a

hook forming the lower end of said support and oppositely disposed arms projecting -1ongitudinally from the said support and composed of two members terminating in hooks, the upper member of said arms being yielding with their ends movably attached to the support, the lower arms thus constructed being longer than the one arranged above the same, whereby the hooked ends of the arms will be properly positioned to receive various garments, all of which will appear from the detailed description to follow.

Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a support formed of two strands of wires twisted together along their length to provide a rigid and-durable stem, the said strands being separated along their length as shown at 2. Single lengths of wires are provided and are formed with coils 3 from which the horizontally and outwardly projecting lower members 4; of the supporting arms extend, the latter being recurved figu re epresents a Specification of Letters Patent. to form end hooks 5 and the continuation of the wires bent to form upper members 6, with their ends looped around the separated strands of the wires of the support, whereby the said upper members 6' of the arms are held yieldingly upon the stem thus constructed.

By providing the members 4 with the intermediate coils 3, said members are yieldingly connected to the support 1 and form eyes 7 for attaching the device to the wall or other support. It will be noted that the members 6 are curved so as to conform to the interior contour of the shoulders and necks of coats, and when said garments are suspended thereon the members 6, w il1, with their hooked connection with the separated strands, be allowed to move downwardly a distance corresponding to the yielding movement of the members 4.

The hooks 53 forming the terminal ends of the arms are also properly constructed to receive hats, coats or other articles of wearing apparel in a convenient and practical manner. The lower end of the support is also properly formed to provide a hook 8 for receiving a coat or other article. In order that the upper members 6 ofthe arms may properly conform to the coat to .be hung thereon, the expanded strands of the wires 2 are arranged in parallel relation to one another to properly guide the upper members 6 of said arms.

The device is adjusted and secured to a support by passing screws 8 through the eye 7 said screws being shown in dotted lines.

What is claimed is:

1. A device of the character described, comprising a stem composed of two strandsof twisted wires, separated at intervals along their length, arms forming a part of the stem and composed of two members separated from one another and providing terminal hooks, the other ends of the upper members of said arms being 'movably confastening means extending through saidloops, arms composed of two strands, the
