Abstract
1522663 Data communication systems MILGO ELECTRONIC CORP 11 July 1975 29192/75 Heading H4P A data communication system comprises a first modem A arranged for transmitting data messages from a first data terminal A through a transmission line and a second modem B to a second data terminal B, modem A comprising means arranged to transmit to modem B, immediately before each data message, a sequence of pre-message control signals of which one is a tone signal of predetermined frequency (see Figs. 3-4), and modem B comprising means for detecting the appearance of signals from the line to activate a sampling and testing circuit which when activated samples the last said signals during a predetermined interval of time, testing for the appearance of the tone signal therein, and providing a first or a second output signal when the tone signal is present or absent respectively. The second output signal indicates that a data dropout has occurred. The system is described in detail w.r.t. Figs. 2,5-12 (not shown).
