A contents service method and a device thereof are provided to employ open DRM(Digital Rights Management) techniques and help users to transact contents legally and use the same freely, wherein purchasers of illegally copied contents are recognized easily and transaction between users are realized directly. A contents service device includes first and second devices(120,130) acting as transaction parties, and a contents service intermediating server(110) for carrying out publishing and handling management of contents. The contents service intermediating server includes a contents publishing part(111), a transaction management part(112), a storing part(114) storing contents publishing information(115) and transaction records(116) and a credit management part(113) for managing credit per customer to indicate authorization to receive contents, wherein the storing part stores information on the credit purchase and use.
