본 발명은 디지털 유료 텔레비젼에 있어서 요구불 작동 모드의 가입자에게 서비스의 신청을 가능하게 하는 제1의 할당 제어 메시지와 사용자 장치(26)로의 제2의 할당 제어 메시지(EMM)의 전송단계와 인가 신호(CW)를 사용자 장치에서 발생시키는 단계를 포함하는 가입자 수신국으로 수신되는 신호에 포함된 데이터로의 액세스 제어 방법에 관한 것으로서, 제1의 제어 메시지가 가입자의 가입에 따른 제1의 메시지와 사용자 장치 내용사이의 대화성을 확신하기 위해서 특정한 가입자의 프로파일에 기초한 시간 슬롯 동안에 적어도 하나의 서비스 혹은 하나의 프로그램이 인가되도록 하는 매개 변수적 프로파일 내용을 전송한다.

디지털 유료 텔레비젼의 액세스 제어 방법 {METHOD FOR ACCESS CONTROL IN DIGITAL PAY TELEVISION}
본 발명은 디지털 유료 텔레비젼에서의 액세스 제어 방법에 관한 것이다.
유료 텔레비젼에 사용되는 기술은 비디오 혹은 오디오 신호의 스크램블링/암호화와 디스크램블링 모듈(액세스 제어)에 보안 메시지로 전송되는 상업적 자격 기능의 두가지 독립적인 방식에 기초를 두고 있다. 암호화는 디지털 비트 스트림상에 쉽게 적용될 수 있다. 예를 들어 모든 비트는 블록 암호를 사용하여 암호화 될 수 있다. 스크램블링은 아날로그 전송을 위해 사용되었다. 이러한 신호 포맷이 변하는 스크램블링 방식을 사용함으로써, 동기 신호가 제거되고 암호화된 형태로 분리되어 전송된다. 오디오 신호는 디지털 신호로 변환된 후 암호화된다. 암호화된 디지털 오디오 신호는 비디오 신호에 삽입된다.
전송된 데이터는 제어 단어(CW)나 키(Key)를 이용하여 스크램블되거나 암호화 된다. 제어 단어나 키는 짧은 주기 후에 변환된다. 새로운 키를 가입자 수신국으로 송신하기 위해서는 자격 제어 메시지(EMC)와 자격 관리 메시지(EMM)가 사용된다.
ECM 와 EMM의 2개의 메시지는 가입자 수신국을 통해서 스마트 카드로 송신되어 진다.
ECM 메세지는 가입자 수신국이 비디오 혹은 오디오 신호를 디스크램블하는 정보를 포함한다. 디스크램블링 데이터는 사용자가 현재 텔레비젼 프로그램으로 액세스하도록 인가되었을때 디스크램블링을 가능하게 하는 형태로 후반부 쪽으로 되돌아 간다. 사용자가 스마트 카드를 사용할 때, 액세스 인가는 카드에 저장된 자격 데이터에 의해 표시된다.
EMM 메시지는 예를 들어, 스마트 카드에 저장된 데이터를 변경하는 것과 같이 사용자 자격 데이터를 업데이트 하는데 사용되는 정보를 포함한다.
ECM과 EMM 메시지는 해시 코드(Hash Code)와 같이 메시지 무결성을 보장하는 디지털 서명 필드를 가지고 있다. 이는 사용자들의 메시지 내용을 변경할 수 없도록 한다.
ECM 메시지는 전송된 스크램블 신호와 함께 전송된다. 이는 다음의 세가지 필드로 구성되어 있다. 첫번째 필드는 액세스 매개 변수를 포함한다. 이러한 매개 변수는 텔레비젼 프로그램으로의 액세스가 허용되는 조건을 규정한다. 예를 들어, 이러한 필드는 부모 관점에서의 평가(디코더에 의한 추가적 핀 코드가 요구됨)와 지리적 마스킹 (영화는 모든 유럽에서 허용 가능하지 않음)을 가능하게 한다. 두번째 필드는 암호화된 형태의 제어 단어를 포함한다. 세번째 필드는 데이터 무결성 검사를 포함한다.
EMM 메시지는 대부분 다음의 네가지 필드를 포함하고 있다. 각각의 EMM 메시지는 하나의 수신기 혹은 수신기들을 선택하는 주소 필드로 시작된다. 주소 모드는 두가지로, 하나는 개인 방송국용이고 다른 하나는 그러한 방송국들의 그룹을 위한 것이다. 두번째 필드는 지정된 사용자 자격을 포함한다. 세번째 필드는 암호화된 형태의 서비스 키를 포함한다. 네번째 필드는 데이터 무결성 검사를 포함한다. 또한, EMM 메시지는 디코더에 명령을 보낸다. EMM 메시지 전송은 일반적으로 사용자가 서비스 제공자에게 하는 명시적 신청에 따른 결과이며, 이러한 메시지는 통상 개인적인 것이다. EMM 메시지는 적용하는 텔레비젼 서비스와 동시에 전송되지 않는다. 이 메시지는 인가된 사용자가 지정된 프로그램에 액세스하도록 하기 위해서 먼저 전송된다. 어떤 네트워크는 모뎀, 메일 혹은 라디오 방송의 수신기에 이러한 EMM 메세지를 전송하는데 사용된다.
예를 들어 가입을 갱신하는 것과 같이, 사용자에게 수신되는 EMM 메시지 확률을 높이기 위해 후반부가 몇번에 걸쳐 송신된다. 따라서 EMM 메시지는 전송을 위해서 지정된 주기에 따라 순환적으로 구성된다. 이러한 주기의 기간은 오랜 시간 수신국에 연결되지 않은 사용자가 자격을 얻기 위해 대기해야하는 최대 대기 시간을 결정하는 주요 매개 변수이다.
종래의 기술로서 "조건적 액세스 시스템의 기능 모델" (8301 EBU Review Technical, 1995, No. 266)은 디지털 텔레비젼에서 사용 가능한 조건적 액세스 시스템의 기능 모델을 기술하고 있다. 이러한 조건적 액세스 시스템은 인가되지 않은 곳의 수신을 막는 스크램블링과 암호화, 이미지, 사운드, 데이터를 난해하게 만드는 스크램블, 디스크램블러를 작동하게 하기 위해 스크램블된 신호와 함께 전송되는 비밀키를 보호하는 암호화의 조합을 포함한다. 디스크램블 후의 이미지나 사운드 결점은 반드시 경미한 것이어야 하며 이는 조건적 액세스 시스템이 반드시 투과성임을 의미한다.
가입자 인가 시스템에 의한 자격 관리 메시지(EMMs)의 발생, 전송, 사용을 도 1 에 도시한다.
이러한 가입자 인가 시스템(SAS)(10)과 제어 단어(CW) 발생기(11)는 각각 암호화 회로(13, 14)를 통해서 운영자 전송국(12)으로 연결된다.
이 운영자 전송국(12)은 멀티플렉서(15), 스크램블러(16), 변조기(17) 전송기(18)를 통해 연속적으로 이동하는 이미지 신호(I), 사운드 신호(S)와 데이터 신호(D) 를 수신한다.
전송기(18) 혹은 위성(20)으로 전송된 신호의 수신시 수신기(22), 복조기(23), 디스크램블러(24), 디멀티플렉서(25)를 포함하는 가입자 수신국(21)은 이미지 신호(I'), 사운드 신호(S'), 데이터 신호(D')를 전달한다.
예를 들어 두개의 복호화 회로(27, 28)와 보안 프로세서(비밀 키)(29)를 포함하는 스마트 카드(26)와 같은 조건적 액세스 시스템은 가입자 수신국(21)에 연결된다.
디스크램블링을 위해서는 디스크램블러, 복호화 회로, 현재 서비스 키의 점유가 필요하다. 복호화는 스마트 카드(26)에 저장된 비밀 키를 사용하는 현재 프로그램을 위한 자격 관리 메시지(EMM)의 사용이 요구된다.
디지털 텔레비젼 분야에서는 요구불(on-demand) 소비 모드가 가입자에게 제공되어 진다. 이러한 소비자 모드는, 예를 들어 예약 혹은 "Impulsive pay per view/pay per time" 형태의 운영을 보여주는 가입자 모드에서 예를 들어 영화보기 서비스를 보기위해 사용될 수 있다.
하지만 이러한 소비 모드는 가입자에게 직접적으로 홍보용 서비스 제공에 사용되지는 않으며, 확인 후 미확인 자격 관리 메시지를 송신하는 과정없이 가입자군의 특정 집단을 목표로 하기 위해 결정된 가입자의 프로파일에 따라 임의의 타임 윈도우(time window) 동안 지정된 영화를 보는 것과 같은 목표화된 방법으로 서비스를 인가하는데 사용되지 않는다.
본 발명의 목적은 이러한 문제를 해결하도록 운영자 전송국에 큰 제약을 주지 않고 결정된 가입자 프로파일에 따른 목표 방법에서의 서비스 인가를 가능하게 하는 새로운 소비 모드를 제공하는 것이다.
도 1은 종래 기술의 디지털 텔레비젼 신호의 송수신기 시스템을 나타낸 것이다.
따라서 본 발명은 디지털 유료 텔레비젼에서 가입자 수신국으로 수신되는 신호에 포함된 정보로의 액세스를 제어하는 방법에 있어서, 가입자 수신국이 신호를 디코드할 수 있게 하고, 가입자에게 요구불 작동 모드를 제공하는 정보를 포함하는 제1의 자격 제어 메시지와 사용자 자격 데이터를 업데이트 하는 정보를 포함하는 제2의 자격 관리 메시지의 두가지 형태의 메시지를 가입자 수신국을 통해 사용자 장치로 전송하는 단계, 사용자가 후반부에 포함된 정보로의 액세스가 인가되었을 때, 사용자 장치에서 가입자 수신국에 의한 신호의 디코딩을 가능하게 하는 액세스 인가 신호(CW) 발생 단계를 포함하며, 제1의 자격 제어 메시지(ECM)는 제1의 자격 제어 메시지(ECM) 내용과 가입자의 가입에 의한 사용자 장치 내용 사이의 특정한 대화성을 제공하기 위해 결정된 가입자의 프로파일에 따른 특정 타임 윈도우동안 적어도 하나의 서비스 혹은 하나의 프로그램을 시청할 수 있도록 인가하는 프로그램 가능 프로파일을 전송하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액세스 제어 방법을 마련한 것이다.
도 1 에 도시된 바와 같은 시스템에서 동작하는 본 발명의 방법에서 자격 제어 메시지 ECM 는 가입자의 가입 신청에 대하여, ECM 메시지 내용과 스마트 카드의 내용 사이의 특정한 대화성을 제공하는 데에 사용되는 프로그램 가능 프로파일 내용을 갖는다.
따라서 첫번째 서비스 제공(01)과 두번째 서비스 제공(02)에서 만족을 느낀 가입자가 영화 시청 중에 ECM 메시지 제어에 따른 세번째 서비스 제공(03)에 의해서 만족을 느끼게 할 수 있다. 만약 이러한 홍보용 서비스 제공이 요구되지 않으면, ECM 메시지 조건이 취소된다.
이러한 특징은 다수의 자격 관리 메시지(EMM)를 처음에 송신하지 않고 가입자의 프로파일에 따른 특정한 서비스 보기를 가능하게 한다.
또한, 가입자로 하여금 할인된 가격으로 특정 프로파일 이익을 얻는다는 것을 확신시킨다. 예를 들어, 프로그램(P1, P2)과 광고메시지 제공(01) 서비스 시청을 위해 돈을 지불한 가입자는, 다른 사용자가 4개의 토큰을 지불해야 하는데 반해 2개의 토큰으로 할인된 가격의 프로그램을 시청할 수 있다.
또한, 이러한 형태는 시스템 도용을 막을 수 있다. 본 발명에 따르면 매일의 일시적 서비스 제공이 각 서비스 혹은 각 프로그램에 할당되어 있다. 예를 들어 영화 보기와 같이 가입자가 프로그램으로의 액세스를 신청하면, 가입자에게 지속적 서비스 제공으로 액세스 할 수 있게 하지 않고 일시적 서비스 제공으로 액세스하도록 한다.
따라서, 만약 시간이 얼마 지나지 않아서, 예를 들어 같은 날에 가입자가 최대 서비스를 제공받는 가입을 신청하고 나서, 돈을 지불하지 않기 위해 기본 가입을 신청 하게 된다면 취소 자격 관리 메시지(EMM)을 보내게 된다. 만약 후반부를 차단하기 위해서 EMM 메시지의 "블록커"를 사용한다면, 사용자는 계속해서 신청 서비스로 액세스하거나 2개월 무료 신청 프로그램으로 액세스 할 것이다.
다시 말해, 본 발명에 따르면 서비스 제공이 일시적이기 때문에, 예를 들어 가입자가 "EMM 블록커"를 사용하더라도 다음에는 서비스나 프로그램으로 더이상 액세스할 수 없게 된다. 그러나 최대 서비스 제공을 신청하고 확인한 가입자에게는 서비스나 프로그램를 지속적으로 제공하면서 EMM 취소 메시지를 보낼 필요가 있다.
조건적 내용의 대표적 실시예
EMM 메시지의 조건적 내용은 지리적 주소 혹은 가입 주소가 나타나는 비트맵(bitmap) 필드에서 AND, OR, IF, ELSE, NOT 기능을 사용하여 작동할 수 있게 한다. 또한, 이러한 EMM 메시지의 조건적 내용은 예를 들어 프로그램 시청을 위해 돈을 지불했을 때 다른 프로그램을 구입하는 것과 같이 프로그램 수 사이의 조건적 운용을 가능하게 한다.
이러한 조건적 운용 모드는 스퀀스 형태로 나타나며, 예를 들어 다음과 같다.

특히, 이 방법은 최대 서비스 가입을 신청하고, 확인 자격 관리 메시지(EMM) 수신한 후에 특정 EMM 취소 메시지를 포함한 후반부의 자격 관리 메시지(EMM)를 블로킹하는 동안 기본 가입을 신청하는 가입자의 선택으로 이루어지는 특정 시스템 도용 형태를 예방할 수 있다.

    상기 제1의 자격 제어 메시지(ECM)는 상기 제1의 자격 제어 메시지(ECM) 내용과 가입자의 가입에 의한 사용자 장치 내용 사이의 특정한 대화성을 제공하기 위해 결정된 가입자의 프로파일에 따른 특정 타임 윈도우동안 적어도 하나의 서비스 혹은 하나의 프로그램을 시청할 수 있도록 인가하는 프로그램 가능 프로파일을 전송하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액세스 제어 방법.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 사용자 장치가 스마트 카드인 것을 특징으로 하는 액세스 제어 방법.
