Abstract

PURPOSE: A device and method for saving power of an image display system are provided to minimize power consumed while a power-saving function is carried out. CONSTITUTION: A device for saving power of an image display system includes a signal detector(100) and a microprocessor(200). The signal detector detects whether an effective signal is input and generates a wake-up signal corresponding to the detected result. The microprocessor controls the image display system to become a power-saving state when a power-saving function of the image display system is executed and, when the wake-up signal is provided in the power-saving state, restores the image display system to a normal operation state.

Description

영상표시기기의 절전장치 및 방법{POWER SAVING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DISPLAY}Power saving device and method of image display device {POWER SAVING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DISPLAY}

The present invention relates to an image display device, and more particularly, to a power saving device and a method of an image display device.

The power saving function provided in an image display device such as a monitor is a function of minimizing power consumption by the monitor by gradually shutting off the driving power of the monitor in a standby state. The monitor checks whether a valid signal is input from the host while performing the power saving function, and restores the normal operation state again when a valid signal is input from the host.

As described above, the monitor normally needs to check whether a valid signal is input from the host while the power saving function is being performed. Therefore, the microcomputer of the monitor was operated normally even during the power saving function. As a result, the monitor consumed about 5 W of power during the power saving function.

However, in response to the development of technology, as the customer's expectation for the power saving function increases, manufacturers of video display devices have continued to research more effective power saving methods.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a power saving device and method for an image display device that can minimize power consumed while performing a power saving function.

1 is a block diagram of a power saving device of a video display device according to an embodiment of the present invention.
