Description
The present invention relates to a folded patch antenna for a mobile communication terminal.
The contents described in this part merely provide background information on the present embodiment and do not constitute prior art.
Mobile communication services continue to evolve as the development of mobile communication technology and consumer demand for more diverse services are met. Early mobile communication services simply provided voice calls, but recent mobile communication services aim to support wireless data rates from hundreds of Mbps to several Gbps so that multimedia contents such as broadcasting can be transmitted.
To this end, a wideband frequency of 40 MHz or more per channel is required, but it is difficult to secure a wideband frequency width in the same band. Accordingly, the development of a frequency aggregation technology (CA: Carrier Aggregation) capable of generating the same performance as a continuous broadband by combining several existing non-contiguous mobile communication frequencies is being actively pursued. To apply this technology, a mobile communication terminal must also be able to provide multi-band and broadband frequencies. However, as the size of the mobile communication terminal tends to be reduced, the size of the antenna is also reduced, making implementation difficult.
Specifically, the physical size (length, area, etc.) of the antenna is frequency-dependent, so that the smaller the size, the higher the target frequency. Accordingly, when the size of the antenna is reduced, the reflection resistance and reactance of the antenna also change according to the frequency change, making it difficult to transfer power from the antenna to the load or from the oscillator to the antenna. Due to this, the antenna has a high Q value and a narrow bandwidth, and in addition, it tends to have super-directionality, which is a problem.
Embodiments of the present invention are small-sized antennas for mobile communication terminals having wideband frequency characteristics to overcome high Q values, narrowband and super-directional characteristics due to miniaturization and to provide various communication systems with different used frequencies.
