Abstract

PURPOSE:To instantly display a desired teletext program out of a memory through a simple operation by storing a program index information and a channel number from a TV video signal so that a teletext program can be selected through an operating section while said information and the number are displayed. CONSTITUTION:A tuner 2 is actuated via a microcomputer 16 by the operating rection 17 to select a channel, and an image is displayed on a CRT 13. A video signal is outputted from an amplifier circuit 4, digital-processed in a character extraction circuit 14, and character information is recorded in a character signal recording memory 15 corresponding to multiplex H. The microcomputer 16 reads it at a time other than a recording time, and sequentially compares thus read out information with information in a backup memory when the information is index information, and when they coincide with each other, updates only time information by the information from a timer 24. In case of discrepancy, the computer 16 updates the recording in the old index area. By such a constitution, the information of respective channels is stored in the backup memory 23, and the information can be instantly viewed, hence the program selection can be achieved by an operator while viewing the index, and in case of overflow of the memory 23, data is transmitted to a main memory 19 of large capacity, therefore the operation is not obstructed at all.
