Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent crosstalk from being generated between a right and a left images for the afterglow characteristic of a display by compressing the display period of a video in one field time, and deleting afterglow before the switching timing of a shutter for the next field arrives by accelerating the completion of the display of the video. CONSTITUTION:A stereoscopic video signal outputted from a VTR10 is inputted to a display period compression circuit 8 and a field signal generation circuit 4. As for the stereoscopic video signal inputted to the display period compression circuit 8, the right and the left videoes are separated alternately to a first feild memory 8a and a second field memory 8b by a timing and clock generation circuit 8c. Simultaneously, a display period is compressed by changing the timing mates of the write and the readout of the feild memory, then, non-display period is expanded. At this time, when the video signal stored once in the memory is outputted from the memory, the timing of one field is delayed, and is displayed on the screen of the display 12. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the influence of the afterglow on a cathode-ray tube, and to improve the visibility of a stereoscopic video remarkably.
