Abstract

PURPOSE:To delete the deterioration of the picture quality of a movement area and to improve S/N by disposing movement adaptive level adjusting devices in modulating and demodulating sides. CONSTITUTION:In an emphasis circuit, the low frequency component of a video signal is supplied to an adder 5 by a horizontal LPF 1 and a high frequency component separated by a horizontal HPF 2 is emphasized in a time direction by a time direction high frequency emphasis filter 3. In a movement detecting part 8, a movement level is detected from the output of the filter 3 to control the movement adaptive level adjusting device 6. According to the output of the detector 8, the gain of an input signal is adjusted in the movement adaptice level adjusting device 7 in a deemphasis circuit to have 1/l to the gain l of the adjusting device 6 in the adjusting device 7. The horizontal high frequency component is deemphasized by the time direction high frequency suppressing filter 4 of a reverse characteristic to the filter 3.
