Abstract
PURPOSE:To switch the compression and the operating modes of a hardware at high speed by selectively executing a document forming processing and a facsimile communication processing by a CPU according to a program by the use of a work RAM. CONSTITUTION:At the time of detecting an incoming call in a line interface part 10 under a document forming mode, an incoming call interruption is executed in the CPU 1 through a control signal line 11. Therefore, a document forming mode is interrupted, the forming document is retracted from the RAM 3 to an FDD 7 and the buffer area of receiving data is maintained in the RAM 3. Subsequently, an FAX application is activated, a GIII communication protocol is started and the receiving data is stored in this buffer. At the time of completing the GIII communication protocol, the MH encoding data in the buffer is demodulated, restored to image data and displayed and printed. At the time of the completion, it is reset to the document forming mode and the forming retracted document is restored on the RAM 3. In such a manner, the CPU, a program memory and the RAM are shared to the respective modes.
