Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the mis-recognition caused by the overlap of the previous and the current display characters by reducing the scroll speed if the ambient temperature in the vicinity of a liquid crystal panel is less than a first set temperature and restoring the speed to the normal if the temperature is more than a second set temperature. CONSTITUTION: A temperature detecting circuit 2 is constituted of a thermistor 21 and a resistor 22 which is connected to the thermistor 21 in series. The voltage across the resistor 22 is set to a first set voltage when the temperature becomes 0 deg.C at which the response speed of the liquid crystal especially becomes a problem. If the surrounding temperature is less than 0 deg.C, the output of a temperature discriminating circuit 4 is made an 'H'. Moreover the hysteresis is provided and the second set temperature is set to 5 deg.C, for example, so that even though the input voltage fluctuates in the vicinity of the first set temperature θ1 , the scroll speed does not change. In other words, hysteresis is provided for the output between the temperature θ1 and θ2 and if it is an 'H', the scroll speed is reduced and if it is an 'L', the speed is restored back to the normal.
