Floppy disk devices are often used as storage devices connected to electronic computers. A floppy disk device records and reproduces information on a disc-shaped magnetic sheet (disk) that is rotated at high speed. Generally, when the device is turned on, the disk drive unit always rotates at high speed. Therefore, even when information is not recorded on or reproduced from the disk, the noise and power consumption associated with the rotation are large. In addition, in some models of floppy disk devices, the drive shaft does not rotate until the disk is loaded onto the drive shaft, making it difficult to load the disk on these models, and if you try to forcefully load the disk, it may damage the area around the center hole of the disk. I had something to do. If the center hole is damaged, errors are likely to occur when recording and reproducing information. In order to eliminate this drawback, the present invention stops supplying power to the motor except when the aforementioned disk-encasing jacket is inserted into the device and when information is recorded or played back from the disk. , Stops the rotation of the drive shaft to stop noise generation and reduce power consumption. Further, when a jacket is inserted into the device, the insertion of the jacket is detected and the rotation of the drive shaft is started before the center portion of the disk is fixed by the centering cone to ensure loading of the disk. be. This prevents damage to the disk and allows information to be recorded and reproduced correctly.

In FIG. 1, a magnetic disk 1 is housed in a jacket 2, and the disk 1 and jacket 2 have a center hole 3 and an index hole 4.
are provided correspondingly. The jacket 2 has a write-inhibiting notch 2a. When the aforementioned jacket 2 is inserted into the drive mechanism 5, the jacket 2 blocks the light emitted from the light source 6, so the detection section 7 detects the insertion of the jacket 2. Detection of the jacket 2 described above is not limited to the light source 6 and the detection section 7, but also includes the light source 8 and the detection section 9 provided to prohibit writing of information using the write-protect notch 2a.
It is also possible to use a light source 10 and a detection section 11 provided to detect the index hole 4 on the disk 1 and determine the rotational position of the disk 1. The signals output from the detection units 7, 9, and 11 are inputted to the electric circuit described below via the connector 12. When the one-shot flip-flop 13 receives a detection signal of the jacket 2 from one of the detection sections 7, 9, and 11, it outputs a signal for setting the flip-flop 14. When the flip-flop 14 is set, the flip-flop 14 outputs a high level signal from the output Q, and the signal is passed through the OR circuit 15 and the connector 1.
2, the motor 16 is rotated. Motor 1
6 rotates the drive shaft 18 via the belt 17. At this time, since the jacket 2 is inserted at the position indicated by the broken line 19, the center hole 3 of the disk 1 receives the rotational force from the drive shaft 18. The center hole 3 of the disk 1 is pressed by the centering cone 20 while rotating. Here, due to the force received from the slope 20a of the centering cone 20, the center of rotation of the disk 1 is easily corrected to coincide with the center of rotation of the drive shaft 18, and the disk 1 is loaded onto the drive shaft 18. The disk 1 is pressed and fixed to the drive shaft 18 by the centering cone 20.
continues to rotate. Since the index hole 4 provided in the disk 1 periodically passes the light from the light source 10 that reaches the detection section 11, the counter 21
can determine the rotational speed of the disk 1 by counting the signals input from the detection section 11. When the disk 1 reaches a predetermined rotational speed, the counter 21 outputs a ready signal, which resets the flip-flop 14 via the connector 12. Therefore, the output signal of flip-flop 14 becomes low level. The output of the OR circuit 15 is determined by the host signal output from the controller 23. When the output of the controller 23 is at a low level, the output of the OR circuit 15 is also at a low level, so the motor 16 stops rotating and enters a standby state. In other words, since the motor 16 does not continue to rotate unnecessarily, noise is eliminated and power consumption is also reduced. Next, when recording and reproducing information to disk 1, the CPU
(Central Processing Unit)
Since the controller 22 issues an operation command to the controller 23, the controller 23 outputs a high level signal to make the output of the OR circuit 15 a high level, and rotates the motor 16 via the connector 12. As a result, the disk 1 starts rotating, and by sliding a magnetic head (not shown) on the disk 1, information can be recorded and reproduced. In this way, the recording/reproducing apparatus of the present invention detects the insertion of the jacket and rotates the drive shaft when loading the disk, so that the disk can be loaded reliably without damaging the disk. When information is not being recorded or reproduced on the disk, the rotation of the disk can be stopped to reduce noise and power consumption.
