Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the weight and size of a platen, by a method wherein a main body formed of a stiff material is provided with impacted members formed of an elastic material. CONSTITUTION:Four impacted members 9a-9d formed of a rubber, a plastic or the like are fitted respectively to four faces of a main body 8 of the platen formed of a stiff material and being a quadrilateral prism in shape to constitute the platen. When the impacted member 9a is damaged, another impacted member 9b, 9c or 9d can be immediately set by rotating the platen with a point P as a center, so that printing can be continued without wasting time. A main body 10 of a platen being a quadrilateral prism in shape is obtained by detachably fitting impacted members 11a-11d into grooves 12a-12d. In general, a type face 14 of a type 13 is provided with a radius of concave curvature of about R60. Since an impacted surface of the impacted member 15 of the platen 17 is provided with a radius of convex curvature conforming substantially to that of the type face 14, the same print quality as that of a large-type cylindrical platen can be obtained although the platen 17 is small in size.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a platen that can be used in typewriters and the like.

Conventional configuration and its problems The platen used in conventional typewriters, etc.
As shown in FIG. 1, the platen 2 was cylindrical and large, so the shape of the typewriter main body 1 was large.

Furthermore, in the case of a type that moves the platen, the load is large due to its heavy weight, and in the case of an electric type, a motor with large torque is required, which is a factor in high cost. Furthermore, even if a portion of the striking portion on the surface of the platen is damaged, the entire platen 2 must be replaced with a new one, resulting in a large economic loss.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION The present invention obviates these conventional drawbacks,
To provide a light, small, and inexpensive platen with a simple configuration.

Structure of the Invention The platen of the present invention has a structure in which a striking member made of an elastic material or a plastic material is formed on at least one surface of a columnar member made of a rigid material, and is lightweight and compact.

Furthermore, by providing the striking surface of the striking member with a convex curvature that almost matches the concave curvature of the type face of the type, the same printing quality as that of a large circular platen can be ensured. Furthermore, it is economical because only the striking member made of an elastic material or the like can be replaced. Furthermore, in the case of a platen having multiple striking members, if one striking surface becomes damaged and becomes unusable, the platen can be rotated.
By adopting a structure in which a separate striking member is set, there is no need to waste time during repairs.

In FIG. 7, a trapezoidal groove 2 is provided in the platen body 18.
0, and the striking group member 19 which fits into the groove 2o with almost no space is attached in a replaceable manner, and it is economical because only the damaged striking group member 19 needs to be replaced. It is needless to say that shapes other than trapezoidal grooves may also be used.
