Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain simple reading without moving a reader only with the switch operation, by providing a switch for the reader to read bar code symbols of lots of same commodities and reading the symbols with a conventional method only at first. CONSTITUTION:In a pen type reader 4, a light from a light source 5 irradiates a bar code symbol of a recording medium 1, the reflected light is converted into an electric signal at a photoelectric conversion circuit 6 and applied to a recognizing circuit 7. The result of recognition is inputted to a control circuit 9 as bar code information and stored in a prescribed address of a storage circuit 8. In reading the same bar code symbol read before, the switch 3 provided for the pen type reader 4 is operated and a switch signal is inputted to a switch control section 10 for the reading. The information representing the number of operations of the switch is inputted to the control circuit 9, calculated with the information already stored in the storage circuit 8, and the result is stored in the other storage area.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned conventional problems, and to provide a parcode reading device that can easily read barcode symbols of a large number of identical products in a short time. The feature of the present invention is that a trap and a switch are provided in the reader to read the barcode symbols of a large number of the same products, and once the barcode symbol is read in the normal way, the product or products can be read manually by operating the switch. It can be easily read in a short time without moving the instrument.
