Abstract

PURPOSE: To use a tilted system for a recording and reproducing system with comparatively narrow band and to achieve excellent reproduction picture, by forming a frequency modulation signal at low frequency signals and a frequency conversion signal being interleft at high and intermediate frequencies respectively, mixing, recording and reproducing the both signals.
CONSTITUTION: A color video signal is divided into three frequency bands at an LPF3, BPF5, 6. A carrier is modulated 3 at low frequencies to form a frequency modulation signal, and a frequency conversion signal is obtained at intermediate and high frequencies so that the signal component is interleft on the same frequency band. The output of a modulator 3 and the frequency conversion signal are mixed 4 and recorded on a recording medium 14. On the other hand, a signal reproduced at a reproduction head 15 is picked up for a reproduction frequency modulation signal from an HPF 17 and for a reproduction frequency conversion signal from an LPF21 respectively and they are mixed and amplified 20. Thus, a reproducing PAL color video signal can be picked up from an output terminal 30.
