Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-resistant grease, prepared by ultrafine powder of a polyimide compound as a thickening agent incorporating (viscosity increasing agent) in a base oil, and capable of exhibiting improved lubricating effects for a long time at a high temperature under high load conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-resistant grease prepared by incorporating usualy 10W 30wt% polymide compound having a particle diameter ≤5μ, preferably an average particle diameter of 2W5μ, as a thickening agent (viscosity increasing agent) in a base oil, e.g. mineral oil or ester oil. The polyimide compound is obtained as follows: A polyamic acid is formed from a diamine, e.g. diaminodiphenylmethane, and a tetracarboxylic acid (anhydride), e.g. pyromellitic dianhydride, and the resultant polyamic acid is then condensed through dehydration under heating to give the polymide compound expressed by the formula (R1 is bi functional organic group; R2 is tetrafunctional organic group; n is ≥2).
