PURPOSE:To eliminate the variance of the sunchronizing frequency of a reproduced signal to obtain a reproduced picture in any tape speed, by detecting the frequency of a reproducing control signal from the tape of a helical scan VTR and by controlling the rotation of a drum motor by the frequency signal. CONSTITUTION:The control (CTL) signal from a control head 9 is applied to a counter 11 through a CTL signal reproducing amplifier 10, and the number of CTL pulses in the time of a switching pulse B is counted. Data of the counter 11 is latched in a latch circuit 13 at the end time of this counting of pulses and is held till the next counting time, and this data is converted to an analogue voltage by a D/A converter 14 and is applied to a drum servo rotating system together with a reference voltage C through a switch 6. At this time, a switch 15 is switched by information of fast-forwarding or rewinding from a tape driving part, and an input voltage VF is given to the converter 14 for fast-forwarding, and an input voltage VR is given to it for rewinding, thus preventing the variance of the synchronizing frequency of the reproduced signal.
