Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyze minor constituents in a specimen in a short time with a high accuracy, by measuring the quantity of light emitted by adding a luminous light emitting reagent to hydrogen peroxide generated due to the action of an enzyme on the specimen.
CONSTITUTION: The quantitative analysis is carried out by sensing the light emitted in the presence of luminol and a peroxidase from hydrgen peroxide generated by the action of an oxidase on a specimen, e.g. in the determination of glucose by a glucose oxidase, with a photomultiplier tube 24, etc. A sample prepared by adding the luminol and peroxidase to the specimen containing hydrogen peroxide is injected into a vial 14 and contained in an accommodating part 12 in a dark box 10, and a shutter 18 is closed. A shutter 26 is then opened, and light passes through a transparnt plate 20 and enters the photomultiplier tube 24. The light is then counted as electric signals by an amplifying and counting circuit 28 and then indicated in a display part 30.
