Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit simple and accurate correction with respect to magnetic fields other than the earth magnetism by a method wherein a pair of two magnetic detectors for detecting each magnetism with a phase angle of 90 deg. are rotated on a certain plane and outputs therefrom are sampled three times and then processed. CONSTITUTION:An azimuth detector including a pair of two magnetic detection elements adapted to detect earth magnetim with a phase angle of 90 deg. on the same plane is rotated on a certain plane. Based on simultaneous equations with respect to correction amounts Xd, Yd and outputs X1-3, Y1-3 obtained from both the detection elements at the times of arbitrary three samplings, Xd and Yd are determined. For example, outputs X, Y from two magnetic detection elements of an azimuth detector 10 are digitalized through a multiplexer 12 and and A/D converter 13. In an arithmetic unit 14 the following simultaneous equations are solved; (X1-Xd)<2>+(Y1-Yd)<2>=(X2-Xd)<2>+Y2- Yd)<2>, (X2-Xd)<2>+(Y-Yd)<2>=(X3- Xd)<2>+(Y3-Yd)<2>, thereby to determine correction amouns Xd and Yd. The outputs X, Y are processed based on these correction amounts.
