Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify circuit constitution, to reduce the cost of materials, and to improve performance by using a nonlinear emphasis circuit used for recording a video signal as part of a nonlinear deemphasis circuit for reproduction. CONSTITUTION:During recording, an input signal E1 inputted to a terminal 31 is supplied to a nonlinear emphasis circuit 32 through the terminal R of a switch 38, and an output signal E2 processed by nonlinear emphasis appears at a terminal 33. During reproduction, on the other hand, an input signal E3 inputted to a terminal 34 is supplied to one input terminal of a differential amplifier 35, whose output signal is fed back to the other input terminal of the differential amplifier 35 through the terminal P of the switch 38 and the nonlinear emphasis circuit 32; when the signals E2 and E3 are nearly equal, an output signal E4 nearly equal to the E1 appears at a terminal 36. Consequently, circuit constitution is simplified, the cost of materials is reduced, and performance is improved.
